I dug out the Deluxe edition of this one to listen to the “Detroit Mix” that Marvin submitted to Motown and which was rejected in favor of the remix that became the original release of the album.

It’s a great alternate version. And this music in either form is just. . . amazing, masterful.

And this edition includes a bit more clearly the line that is also repeated by Donny Hathaway on his “Live” album and explains for me life and after-life and the cosmos: “Everything is everything.”
