One my favs from the WCC series. Guess it didn't take off but very happy with the 12 they issued.

Anyone know the reason why this session was not issued until years later? To these ears, this record is just as awesome as Complete Communion, and SFI.

You mean on CD or on LP?

In the LP days, only Complete Communion stayed readily available IIRC. I remember the other two being "finds" when I did find them.

When was the Don Cherry Mosaic released?

I meant the LP. CD was released in 2005. Session was recorded in 1966. By the sleeve art, I'm guessing the LP came out in 1969-70. On par with CC and SFI; I may like it even a bit more.

Don Cherry's BN's are just a purple patch of awesomeness (incredible series). (1964-67, including image.jpeg.c9ec7291fe6ca51229bbf3069a3a6a85.jpeg) Wow!

No slouching here. Think Don was way more intense at this time than Ornette. Karl Berger! Wow!

Really enjoying Don Cherry's music the last couple of days. Great stuff, beyond the great stuff with Ornette.

The fidelity on these live records is pretty nice.

Now Vol. 2:

The Don Cherry ESP's are wildly good!

To tone it down before I wake up the wife and disrupt the school day:

Yeah that whole period is my favorite Don Cherry. The Blue Notes plus the ESP's and the BYG. Lovely side appereances with Albert Heath on Kawaida en with Clifford Jordan on 'In the World'. Mostly recorded between 1965 and 1970.

Should be another warmer day thank goodness.

I’ve been neglecting my collection of Japanese 24 Bit by RVG cds for too long, decided to spin this one.

Great record. Jackie, Pepper! Love BN Byrd. Was playing this the other night,

About cars, Herbie has (still has) that neat genuine Shelby he bought 3k in 1963, after his first big hit made money? (Watermelon Man?) that's worth like 3mil now (featuring Jay Leno and Herbie driving in it on his super car show), but I always liked Donald's reserved taste; either choosing to be a Mercedes or a Jag man. But you have to choose, can't be both.

Right? What he was doing in that half decade was Don Cherry, no longer just known as an Ornette sideman. The BN's and ESP's keep me on edge. No slouching, no downtime-relentless!! Just the way I like it. Gotta revisit the "mu" stuff right now. Mu is Japanese for "nothingness" right? Existential in European talk. Don Cherry was a deep dude, Have both parts, playing it now.

Chick Corea "Return to Forever" ECM LP

Listened to my OG LP and man what a wonderful experience. This is a masterpiece. What Joe, Flora and Airto contribute has always intrigued me. And Chick's Fender Rhodes playing is among the best ever.
