A way of saying "proggy" without also suggesting that the music might be lame. Thanks. Not being familiar with the usage, I thought things like counterpoint, retrograde, and even serialism might qualify. If we extend "maths" to "probability", even some of Xenakis's stochastic music (which I think is mathematically -at least- lame, having seen some simplistic underlying FORTRAN code). Quote

Any music with rhythm is maths jazz (counting). The only non-maths jazz form of music so far discovered is unaccompanied Tuvan Throat Singing. Quote

gmonahan Posted June 2 Report Posted June 2 I dismissed these years ago as commercial stuff but decided to return to them after all these years with this set, and there really is some fine music here! Good sound too. Quote
Rabshakeh Posted June 2 Report Posted June 2 Angel Bat Dawid - A modern cosmic apocalyptic sonic discourse for The Book of Enoch First listen to this. It seems pretty bad. Like a Stereolab offcut. Quote

JSngry Posted June 3 Author Report Posted June 3 17 compositions by 15 composers. 3 CDs packed in an LP-size jacket in cardboard that's as heavy as a 65 Cadillac. Pleasant listening so far, about as expected. Quote

The three main ones, in Charlesworth's translation (I haven't kept up my Ge'ez and old Church Slavonic have been getting rusty since I left primary school). Quote
