I’m on to another Tom Harrell. His work captivates me and I often have to hear more than one at a sitting. I think it’s in part because his “sound” is very like my best friend’s on the trumpet, and I sense the connection.

Another one on High Note, by that same great working band.

Time for a listen to this beautiful album. I love late Jobim. A family of musicians playing lovely music they love.

David Bowie’s final work. . . pretty fascinating. Too compressed in mastering, but if I adjust my gain structure down it sounds better.

I have digital versions of this LP in stereo, but this mono Roulette LP has a rich sound of its own that I wanted to hear.

Jack Teagarden “Portrait of Mr. T”

Don Goldie was an excellent trumpeter and vocalist and is a real asset in the late Teagarden bands. And how cool to have a version of Bix’s “In the Dark”. . . .

For many years, that was the only Roulette LP I had by Big T. I remember bugging Cuscuna constantly for the eventually issued (and much loved by me!) Mosaic set!

Listening to this bit of late Bud Shank

Cool. I had all the material in the set when it came out except the unreleased live material which I was delighted to have.
