In another forum someone  made the statement  'I never heard a good JAZZLAND recording'44623671cn.jp

Does the person making that statement mean good musical quality or good audio/recording quality?  Either way, it seems like an absurd thing to say.

Jazzland  JLP 933 - Harold Land  "Eastward Ho! - rec. 1960 - Engineer: Ray Fowler

Yup.  That Harold Land album is one of many examples that we could name.

Interesting MPS editions: Have quite a bunch of Herbolzheimers on vinyl  (on Panda / Koala /Teldec) and CD's.  He was leading the german youth jazz orchestra (BUJAZZO). Real excellent big band in the traditional sense & always  swinging. Even the pop oriented  4 LP vinyl series.

I'm not familiar with those.  Thanks for the heads-up.  :tup

Carmen McRae “Carmen Sings Monk” RCA cd

The woman knew Monk a long time, from the 'forties, and that shows in her interpretations. It’s been too long since I have spun this wonderful disc.

Sales figures may prove me wrong, but it was my sense when this album was released that we were at the peak of the jazz comeback.
