jazzbo Posted January 14, 2020 Report Posted January 14, 2020 Played around with tubes today. Probably shouldn't have, ate up more time than I'd like. Listened to. . . Bill Evans Complete on Verve, disc 10 (Intermodulation with Jim Hall, and A Matter of Conviction material with Gomez and Philly Joe.) Grateful Dead, "Blues for Allah" Mobile Fidelity SACD. I love the amazing guitar sounds on this album, Jerry enjoying a fantastic instrument and really layering a great tapestry. Chick Corea and Origin at the Blue Note, the single disc version. Love this band, great live sound as well. John Coltrane, "Ballads," Japanese Platinum SHM-CD Quote

Simply marvellous W. Yes, I have "Just in Time". Astonishing. Arguably Buddy's best big band recording ever (in the top 3, for sure). Recorded 6 months before his death. Quote
Bluesnik Posted January 15, 2020 Report Posted January 15, 2020 Perfect pairing of Rollins with Jim Hall, who is both astonishing at single notes and chords, or best, a mixture of both. Quote

IMO Mood releases were a mixed bag, some brilliant (like the Dauner solo album), others heavily over-produced (like the Voices LP or the Head, Heart & Hands. I'll open a thread on the label. Quote
