Peter Friedman Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 This was recorded in the same year as Dorham's Blue Note "Una Mas" date. Kenny sounds very good here. Quote

jazzbo Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 Pee Wee Russell “Portrait of Pee Wee” Counterpoint/DCC cd. Steve Hoffman and. DCC did a good job with this, and they chose perhaps the best sounding Pee Wee recording to work with so that helped. What a band! I’m a huge Pee Wee Russell fan. 297×300 6.8 KB Bass – Charlie Potter Clarinet – Pee Wee Russell Drums – Karl Kiffe Piano, Arranged By – Nat Pierce Tenor Saxophone – Bud Freeman Trombone – Vic Dickenson Trumpet – Ruby Braff Quote

jazzbo Posted January 22 Report Posted January 22 32 degrees and a little bit of snow overnight, but none expected today. A bit of a blessing. Lucinda and I plan a nice walk today. First day this week “something” wasn’t scheduled that takes up chunks of our time. Staring off the day with this excellent disc of “warm weather music” --Paula Morelenbaum “Bossarenova” with the SWR Big Band and Ralf Scmid. Paula’s lovely voice is a nice way to ease into the day, and these arrangements are fun to listen to. Quote
