Mark Stryker
A quite remarkable 1962 news report on the "the music and the cult called bossa nova." A full 7-1/2 minutes long. Amazing footage and an amusing journalist's frame to the story. Edited July 14, 2022 by Mark Stryker

So many pieces like that from that era take a dismissive tone. This really seemed like they were trying to understand what the music was about. Thanks so much for posting! clifford_thornton
Interesting. When I took Richard Wright's jazz history course in college, he devilishly fit Bossa Nova and The New Thing into one class, tying them together with Archie Shepp's take on "Girl From Ipanema." Miss that guy. He was a big Roswell Rudd fan.

Man, the complete show is something else with an extended performance of One Note Samba by Jobim and Mulligan joining in. Related: Anybody know who the trumpet player is in the California club scene? I like Mulligan's clarinet sound too. Like his bari sound, except on a clarinet.
