It has been reported that German saxophonist and flutist Gerd Dudek passed on Nov. 3 at age 84.

An excellent player, he worked in the European Jazz Quintet and his own groups along with Albert Mangelsdorff, Manfred Schoof, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Peter Brötzmann, and many others.

Sorry to hear this, love his playing. I highly recommend his first "proper" solo album "'smatter", which motivated Evan Parker to start his label psi (Parker was excited about Dudek's date and nobody wanted to release it): https://www.discogs.com/release/2333504-Gerd-Dudek-Smatter . Evan Parker refers to Dudek is "the holy one" in the liner notes, no less.
