TedR Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 Used the importcds sale to try three of the xrcd24s: Back to the Tracks, The Big Beat and Cape Verdean Blues. Also added the Frank Wess/Johnny Coles Uptown release and Flight for Four (international phonograph). Once we get an estimate on a front porch replacement I hope to splurge on the new Mosaic Louis Armstrong and Chuck's two newest. Then I'm done buying for the year. B-) Quote

colinmce Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 HA! I've checked Ebay, Discogs and everything in between for this album nearly every day for the last 3 years. Never once seen it, not even for absurd prices. Somehow, two copies turned up on Ebay simultaneously and here we go. Now for my next great White Whale, Joe McPhee's Songs & Dances... Quote

Hey man, album cover pic is not showing up for me and i'm genuinely curious to know what the album is if you get a chance! My latest purchases: I splurged on Sonny Rollins, ordering The Prestige Albums Universal Italy box set (bare bones but i really liked the Coltrane one), The Contemporary Leaders, Alfie and Horn Culture. With that i think i'll now have every album he recorded as a leader through to Horn Culture apart from The Big Brass. Quote

I am so glad you will be able to experience one of the very special free improvisation recordings of the 1990's. I couldn't see the image either but discovered if you right click on the "?" (where the image should appear) and click either "Open Image in New Tab" or New Window, you'll be able to see the posted image. I'm a Leimgruber fan also; have a lot of his Hat recordings, stuff with OM, etc. but not the one you picked up, which I know is a good done. Eventually....... Quote

niels Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Muhal Richard Abrams - Young at Heart / Wise in Time [1969, Delmark] Very happy with this find in the local record shop, as this is usual not the kind of Jazz (i.e. Blue Note/Impulse/Atlantic etc reissues) they have in stock. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 Well, after a pig of a week - the week before last - when I had to reload my operating system (Internet Explorer stopped working) and put everything back together again, THEN found I couldn't get Access because Microsoft had voided the product key they gave me and corresponded with a Microsoft guy in Russia (and still haven't got it sorted, but looks like I'll have to buy another copy, as Microsoft are a load of thieving gypsy bastards), went off to Paris. A little trip to Paris always makes me feel good Of course, I hit the record shops in the Goutte d'Or and Paris Jazz Corner and was pleased to see prices coming down - PJC had 20% off everything until 25 July! So I bought enough to nearly cripple myself lugging my bag up and down the stairs at St Pancras and Paddington (I went by Eurostar as there are no longer flights from Cardiff to Paris (!!!). So, from in the Goutte d'Or, I got some CDs Kaniba Oule Kouyate - Democratie - AMC - replacement for an old muddy K7 Youssou Ndour - Bercy 2003 vol 1 - Jololi (volume 2 never issued on CD, must look for a K7) http://www.sternsmusic.com/cdi/fixedSize350x350/yndgb03cd.jpg Thione Seck - Ddiaga - TBS no image on web Ndeye marie Ndiaye Gawlo - Gawlo senegal - Jololi http://www.natari.com/graphics/gawlo-f.jpg Fallou dieng - Maana - 6C - produced by Pape Cisse - 6C is a pun Wally Ballago Seck - Voglio - TBS (Thione Seck's son, on Thione's own label) some K7s Yacouba Kante - Messager du Manding - Sonia Store Alioune Kasse - Kara - PCS http://www.geocities.ws/lydia_gaertner/Diskographien/Alioune_Kasse_Bilder/AliouneKasseKaraVol1.jpg Above 2 are replacements for duff K7s Pathe Moloko - Menminilan - Gris gris no image on web Assane Mboup - Ay beuguente la - Prince arts http://www.dakarmusique.com/images/stories/sorties_album/assanemboup-beugeunte.jpg Toure Kunda - Live - Celluloid http://home.comcast.net/~toure-kunda/images-tk/toure-kunda-live-paris-ziguinchor-cs-france-64602-4.jpg Coumba Gawlo - Accident - Audio Video no image on web - very glad to at last get an original of this - have been making do with a pirate copy for a good many years.
