The amazing Bud Powell vol1 and vol 2

Only got round to buying Vol 2 last year, having had Vol 1 on vinyl since the 60s! Both wonderful, of course!

the saleswoman actually only wanted to sell me one volume, thinking they were twice the same thing and the other one hadn't arrived..., luckily i had a look in the box... haven't played vol 2 so far but i really don't know where i've been all those years... amazing indeed

My latest buys, class gospel:

Bells Of Joy - The Collection 1951-1954

Brother Cecil L.Shaw - I Want To Know

The Brother Cecil Shaw is a fine one.

I have a Bells of Joy LP of their Checker material from 1960. Look forward to hearing their earlier recordings on the one you mentioned.

An 8 CD limited edition release by the Jonas Kullhammar Quartet called The Half Naked Truth. All the music is previously unreleased and was recorded live or in studio between 1998-2008. If you haven't heard this guy, he's the real deal.

Up over and out.

Just picked up Shades of Redd not too long ago (the conn edition) which I've been enjoying quite a bit too. Love the McLean/Brooks front line.

He is a great player, tho admittedly I haven't always been impressed by his bands. The one with the Norbotten Big Band I remember liking a lot, though.
