tranemonk Posted May 9 Report Posted May 9 I came across this in my Instagram feed and wanted to run it by this group. Are the publishers being correct that this material hasn't been released previously in its entirety??? Or do I likely own it 3 times already in 3 different "never before released" sessions? https://thelostrecordings.store/en/products/miles-davis-quintet-the-complete-live-in-paris-vol-i-ii-double-uhqcd Quote
John L Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 Relative to the RTE release that I have, there are 4 additional tracks here, but only one (it would appear) with Miles and Stitt: All Blues. There are two (new) trio tracks: Softly As In a Morning Sunrise and Makin' Whoopie. Then there is a track on volume 2 (Stardust) that I have not heard, but it was previously known just to be a piano introduction and nothing else. I am not sure if they have now released a whole track of it. Maybe someone who has volume 2 can chime in. Quote
Peter Friedman Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 This looks very much like the 4 CD set I have on the Europe 1 label. Quote
jazzbo Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 https://www.plosin.com/milesAhead/Sessions.aspx?s=601011 Details here by Pete Losin. Quote
medjuck Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 I have both volumes. I think Peter Losin's presumption that there was more music than that released here is based on the brevity of the last set. I'm not sure but I'll ask him. Stardust is, I believe, the entire song but it's a feature for Stitt with no Miles. Quote

I can see that Peter Losin doesn't mention that Softly.... & Makin' Whoopie are trio tracks though he does have Miles as out on Stardust Quote

I have no doubt the music is excellent. Edited June 2 by hbbfam Quote
