New Craft release with previously unreleased Riverside Bill Evans tracks.

This one appears to gather together all of the studio recordings of the Evans-LaFaro-Motion trio on five LPs.   It includes quite a few alternates previously unknown to me.  I have the Bill Evans Complete Riverside Box and about a dozen alternates not on that box that have been circulating.   But there is quite a bit more here. 

I wonder if there will be a CD issue?

Yes, there will also be a 3-CD set.

Lotta competition in the "creepy Bill Evans photo" category.

I don't find it too creepy, but selecting a pic with his face obscured by hand and cigarette is weird.

That is understandable.  On the other hand, this is one of the most iconic bands in the history of jazz that only had the opportunity to make two studio albums.  That is the primary source of the interest.

Bill Evans could not make a bad record.  A couple of decades ago I reached a saturation point and decided to stop buying Bill Evans records.  I still enjoy his music and welcome reissues of classic Evans like this but feel no need to upgrade.
