But to my amazement I was able to read this in an "InPrivate" tab: Shamek Farrah Made a Jazz Masterpiece. He’s Still a Mystery. - The New York Times Quote

relyles Posted September 19 Report Posted September 19 (edited) In 1989 or 1990 my father organized a jazz dinner event in Brooklyn. I was recently out of college and did not drink, but somehow I wound up being the bartender for the event. Shamek Farrah and Norman Person were the leaders and Sonelius Smith was also in the band. I do not remember the rest of the musicians. At the time I had only been listening to jazz for a couple years and had no idea who the musicians were. I just knew that it was my father's friend "Tony", who if I remember correctly he collaborated with to organize the event with. Around that same time I had a copy of Impressions, but still did not know about the statute of Strata-East in the community. It was sometime after that I became more knowledgeable about the label and the musicians on it. I enjoyed reading this article and the memories it generated. Edited September 19 by relyles Quote
