Interesting that they do this when the Abbey Road studio won't even consider opening a gift shop there. In fact, when I went about 25 years ago, they wouldn't even let you into the building. You walked up to the door and there was sign saying something like "This is a working studio. No visitors allowed". It should have said, "We know you want to spend some money, but we don't want it." :)

That was live when I went. Me & my wife got a picture with us crossing... unfortunately, I cannot find that picture anywhere. It was at a time when the world was between film developing and digital photography and I wonder if it got lost in that shuffle.

FWIW, be careful if you try to get that picture. Cars fly up that road.

I was there about 4 years ago, and they absolutely had a gift shop. They have a special entrance on the side of the building for the store.

'Bout time! I couldn't believe their attitude when I was there. The person "guarding" the door back then was pretty adamant that they were only a recording studio. The attitude gave the impression that they wished that Abbey Road wasn't even recorded there... as if they would have still been in business if they hadn't done it. :)

I visited  the Abbey Road studios when a friend was recording a soundtrack there.  He was in a modern studio but took me to see the studio  the Beatles used.   (Studio 2?)  They had kept it the same as it had been in 1969 so they had some sense of history.  I don't think there was a gift shop at the time.
