The Magnificent Goldberg Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 My wife's watering the garden. The forecast said rain in 50 mins. So I just looked at the latest forecast. No rain forecast. Thank heavens for a wife with extra-sensory powers! MG Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 (edited) Standing outside IKEA waiting for a full on monsoon to pass! (20 minutes later Nottingham traffic in total chaos as various bits of road turned into rivers. Had to do a 6 mile detour to travel 1 mile). Edited July 23, 2013 by A Lark Ascending Quote
Royal Oak Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Roasting again today, more heavy showers forecast for tomorrow. Quote

A Lark Ascending Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Arrived in Cornwall on Wednesday afternoon to be told it hadn't rained for weeks. Two hours later the heavens opened and it didn't stop for the first half of the night. Fortunately Thursday was gorgeous and it's pretty good today too if a bit cloudier. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Today's the last day of sunshine, according to the BBC. Five (at least) days of rain forecast. MG Quote
paul secor Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Beautiful here today - 80ish, bit of a breeze, low humidity. I'll take many more like this one. Quote
Royal Oak Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) About 40 minutes ago, we had the heaviest hail storm I have ever seen, summer or winter. Lasted about 10 minutes, hail the size of marbles. The pavements and gardens were carpeted with ice, the streets resembled streams. All quiet now, the flood water starting to recede, the sun is out and there are shredded leaves everywhere. Bill, did you get it? Edited July 29, 2013 by rdavenport Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 Rain forecast for most of this afternoon hasn't materialised. It's a bit windy; our bay tree in unstable pot got blown over. MG Quote

Bill, did you get it? Pleased to have missed the hail, Richard. But we've had some very heavy downpours here today and yesterday. Quote
sidewinder Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 Just driven through one heck of a downpour. New car too - not the most auspicious time to test the brakes in the wet ! Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 Gorgeous here overlooking St Ives bay. Really heavy showers yesterday evening but always ablue bit of sky in view. Best run of weather I've had in Cornwall for some years. Quote

Best run of weather I've had in Cornwall for some years. Enjoy the Mike Westbrook gig tomorrow night. I'll be in Falmouth - not sure if I can make the trek across the peninsular to St Ives though.. A Lark Ascending Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 Thanks, sidewinder - looking forward to it. It's not far (though I'm sure you have other priorities). Enjoy Falmouth (though I expect you are there for work). Quote

A Lark Ascending Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Two days of overcast while the east of the country baked. Glorious morning today - blue skies over St Ives Bay. Quote
Head Man Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Stonking hot and sunny this morning......wonderful! Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Pleasant here. Rain late afternoon/early evening I think. MG Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Glorious day - did a nice walk from St Just to Sennan Cove. Highly recommended - unlike a lot of the Cornish coast you don't keep meeting gulleys that you have to climb down vertically only to climb 300 steps to get up the other side. Rain moved in at 5.00; just got my tent up during a bright break and now it's monsooning. I have feeling this very mixed weather is going to be with us a while. Quote
sidewinder Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 (edited) I have feeling this very mixed weather is going to be with us a while. Looks as if it's going to be wet in the West Country next week. My garden is appreciating it. Edited August 3, 2013 by sidewinder Quote
