  1. Nothing is broken (yet) but I can really relate to your anguish. Hang in there, Jim. Kids recover really fast!
  2. I believe Flip Phillips lived his last decade or so in Florida. An excuse for some fiery Perdido arrangement maybe? Also Herman's "Lost Weekend" and "1-2-3-4-Jump" is by Flip, I think.
  3. I often spin the Vic Dickenson/Bobby Hackett sides @ the Roosevelt Grill. I believe they were among the first to be issued on the Chiaroscuro label.
  4. Happy Birthday, Daniel! Many many happy years!
  5. Speaking of Uptown: any news on the Dizzy BB project?
  6. It may seem odd to you, but I would have stayed in Israel. Sure, a couple of years in Tuscany, Provence, SF or Sidney would be a nice change of pace, but I believe I will return here evenually.
  7. How is the first name of Odean Pope pronounced?
  8. Happy birthday, my friend. Hope you'll have a great day!!
  9. Happy new year! Enough of peace & quiet wishes: May this coming year will be as loud, as eventful and as surprising as possible - all in a good, musical way!! Shanah Tovah everyone!
  10. My condolences, Markl. All of us who are lucky enough to have pets can understand your sense of grief and loss. Best wishes.
  11. I'm really enjoying reading this thread, Conn, pics and stories alike. Thanks for sharing!
  12. I'll join you guys this time. Count me in for MP3 link!
  13. Sad news. I love his playing all on those Lee Konitz albums
  14. John Coltrane left this world. Let's all spin some of his music today,
  15. Caught him in Tel Aviv on April 2006, with his "We remember clifford" Group. with Randy Brecker(tp); Eddie Henderson(tp, fhrn); Mike LeDonne(p); Buster Williams(b); Al Foster(d) Golson was ok, not great. I wish he played as much as he talked. The trumpeters outshone him for sure. here are some Golson pics from that gig:
  16. I second Booker Ervin-Dexter Gordon on "Setting The Pace". I think Booker wins this one, but not with KO. A few favorties that (I think weren't mentioned before) Dexter and Wardell Gray - The Chase - a tie. Warne Marsh & Ted Brown - Jazz of Two Cities - Hot ice! Lockjaw, Hawk, Tate & Cobb - Very Saxy
