brownie Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 I grabbed the only copy that showed up! The store also had one each of the Andrew Hill Solo and the Dexter Gordon at Keystone Korner Selects. €10 each, too! Added those to the Tony Williams! Went to the cash register with a happy smile I returned the next day to the store in the hope of finding more of those but came back emptyhanded! Quote

Know I am in a minority but I love those albums! I'll wipe the cobwebs and fungi off of mine and give it a spin ! If you intend to relisten to the box, suggest you skip discs 1 and 2. Those were recorded at the group's debut stage when their singing was much more conventional! Quote
sidewinder Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Good idea. I don't think I got beyound disk 2 last time I listened (around the time of the Seige of Mafeking ). Quote
king ubu Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 I'm enjoying the perspective of receiving the Dizzy Reece set... Seriously, I've not played any Mosaic set for quite a while (ever since the Great Mosaic Debacle, or GMD as it came to be known...), haven't spun any of those Selects I managed to buy, and am still pissed at not having been able to find the Pacific Trios (a friend helped me out, but I prefer having the real thing...) sidewinder Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 am still pissed at not having been able to find the Pacific Trios (a friend helped me out, but I prefer having the real thing...) So my HMV find was a minor miracle then? Haven't spun too much of it yet myself (just the Clare Fischer) but it's an excellent set, for sure. Quote
