The "Direction" is noise, by the way. In case you were wondering. Edited 27 Oct 2021 by Rabshakeh
Posted 27 Oct 2021 (edited) Fox Capture Plan's Xronicle. Interesting at first but it kind of wore thin after a few songs. May need to revisit. Then: which was good, especially that track with Regina Carter. Before all that: Edited 27 Oct 2021 by Dub Modal

Posted 27 Oct 2021 I'm not averse to smooth jazz. I can take about half an album's worth at times. This is definitely smooth. And Simpson's going to be on the Smooth Jazz Cruise this coming January. Who's going? Now this is good stuff. Gendel has some definite late-era Pharoah Sanders influence.

Is this going to be one of those cruises where the power goes out and all the shrimp get rotten and people having to vomit and defecate in trash bags and stuff? And then they all get COVID and flesh-eating maggots start popping up and everybody gets eaten alive except for the ones who jump into the icy ocean only to be eaten by sharks, and only one man, some guys named Shine, makes it to shore alive? If so, no, I'm not going. I get enough of that here at the house. But I will be waiting for Shine to get here. From what I gather, he's one helluva storyteller! I wouldn't be within a mile of a cruise ship port but it appears plenty have a jones for it. And now: Enjoying this one. Although Allan Mednard is credited with drums on most tracks, Marcus Gilmore is also credited with drum programming on others as well. But I swear I hear drum programming on tracks where Gilmore isn't credited with such. Weird. Maybe it's just the sound of how Mednard is recorded...?

I guess that's all that matters.

Yesterday I listened to her preceding one on that label and thought it merited the attention.
