No, they’re not, they’re thinking of putting a bid together. I doubt — and hope it won’t — happen.

I don’t think it would. It would be similar to the Marlins situation where they had to cut payroll because they couldn’t afford the team.  Aroid and Jlo would need wealthy partners to swing this. I’d much rather have Cohen, who has deep pockets than these two. It would be a disaster.

If Cohen decides he is interested again, as I assume he will be since he already owns a percentage, I have no doubts he can outbid Rodriguez and the large pool of investors he will have to bring with him.

I do miss baseball, have lived and breathed it since I was seven years old, have spent much of my life with my ears glued to hall-of-fame broadcasters (Bob Prince as a kid, Harry Kalas and Richie Ashburn as an adult)  but everyone needs to stay safe.  I will welcome whatever they come up with.,

According to some reports, baseball may realign for this year, as follows: MLB would re-align the league into three divisions with 10 teams in each division; teams would only play games within their division (at the regional hub they're assigned to); and the traditional American League/National League dynamic would be abolished, with teams being assigned to divisions based on geography.

Possible divisions would look like this:

East (Florida):

Baltimore Orioles

Boston Red Sox

Miami Marlins

New York Mets

New York Yankees

Philadelphia Phillies

Pittsburgh Pirates

Tampa Bay Rays

Toronto Blue Jays

Washington Nationals

Central (Texas):

Atlanta Braves

Chicago Cubs

Chicago White Sox

Cincinnati Reds

Cleveland Indians

Detroit Tigers

Kansas City Royals

Milwaukee Brewers

Minnesota Twins

St. Louis Cardinals

West (Arizona):

Arizona Diamondbacks

Colorado Rockies

Houston Astros

Los Angeles Angels

Los Angeles Dodgers

Oakland Athletics

San Diego Padres

San Francisco Giants

Seattle Mariners

Texas Rangers

AL or NL rules? Or is it still home team rules?

That's kinda sportsturbation, doing it just to do it while you're waiting for the real thing to come along.

I mean, ok, but anybody who really gets into it...hmmmmm….

More elaboration here.  Man, that Eastern division would be brutal!

So...the Central (Texas) division has no Texas teams in it?

Bru-tal! I think it’s a great idea. Maybe the ultimate asterisk season but better than nothing.

It could be a harbinger if things to come.

Just sour grapes over the Rangers playing 36 games against the Astros/Dodgers?  ;)

Hey - right now, the Rangers are undefeated and the Dodgers are just a .500 team.

It's the year after the Bud Harrelson / Pete Rose dust-up in the playoffs. So, I'm in the left field bleachers in San Diego and the crowd is on Rose, who is playing left field, for the entire game, I mean non-stop, full-bore, unrelenting, calling him everything under the sun. Bottom of the ninth, and, of course the Padres are losing, the final out is a fly ball to left, Rose catches it, turns around to the bleachers, and flips everyone off. Of course, now he would have probably been suspended with a fine. Then, everyone laughed.

Most players at that time wouldn’t have given the crowd the satisfaction. When I was in college in the early 70s, I attended a few Senators games. At one game I was sitting in the CF bleachers and one fan heckled the CF (can’t remember which team) from start to finish. The CF never once acknowledged the heckling which, of course, made the fan madder.

Yeah, can't imagine MLB ever suspending someone like Pete Rose...

Sorry to hear that, but understand it.  Not sure how they will keep players ready for injury replacements, etc.
