  7. Has to be Bluiett. I've never heard the song or album, but I would guess it's cut #6 from this. The trumpet player's writing style is pretty unmistakable from his time with the great bass player in the 70's. BTW. if I'm correct, I need to pick this CD up!

  13. That Keynote box set is an amazing document of the swing-to-bop era before the long playing record changed the way we listen to and approach a jazz record session. Lots of these artists, and certainly these records, suffered relative neglect in the LP era. I'd also recommend the Mosaic box set of Capitol small group sessions, mostly marooned on 10-inchers.
