Del Toro, Scorsese. I've enjoyed the recent run of movies by Yorgos Lanthimos. I also think Chloe Zhao does some good work (well, except for "The Eternals." Didn't think much of that one.)

Next up: with Ed Bickert, John Bunch, John Goldsby, and Terry Clarke

I'd like to see a "complete label" set of Lionel Hampton's "Who's Who in Jazz" label from the 70s. Mingus did his last bass work for that label, but I seem to remember that the Hampton estate can be "Goodman-like" to deal with.

I would love to see a Lateef Impulse box set, either studio or live and studio.

I wouldn't know. I don't read much about Yes etc.

The Bill Barron is a no-brainer Warne Marsh - anything! private tapes, full session recordings, unreleased live recordings. I'm sure there's an angle here in the vein of the recent Tristano set New Orleans Modern Jazz - something along the lines of a full reissue of the 1976 Opus box set New Orleans Heritage - Jazz: 1956-1966 (which features Ellis Marsalis/American Jazz Quintette recordings along with some others) expanded with contemporaneous and relevant music. This is maybe a little outside the scope of what Mosaic does, but I think there's some great potential Always thought Mosaic could do something more with some of the newer BN material a la the Don Pullen and Tony Williams Selects. I think a box of Jason Moran's BN sessions would be great. In that vein a box of Geri Allen's Minor Music dates, possibly incorporating the Somethin' Else/BN material as well, would be really strong.

Another Fathead album arranged by William Fischer:

If I could only own one Henderson album, that would probably be it.

I'm not aware of any which exist!

Has there ever been a case of jazz Christmas CDs being reissued? That would be a new one on me. and yes, d/l available, how many people really care especially for music of such a specialized and time-sensitive type? Given the state of CD sales I would venture to say that a CD reissue of this material is not financially viable. If the family owns the rights they can spend the money on trying to reissue it on Bandcamp but if they are the source for the Amazon D'L then it surely looks like they have made their economically viable choice.

What rock music are you listening to? Non-Jazz, Non-Classical.

I have both but prefer the Timmons. Patterson's efforts just don't seem to hit me right. This is an excellent Christmas disc. I haven't played that one in a while. Maybe tonight will be the time?

Um... what are you talking about here... are you implying that simply because Amazon is selling the download, there is no need to reissue it on CD? What artists have taken that stance? Are there really artists that only sell downloads now? If true, that's a new one on me.

70's Joe isn't as famous as 70's Miles, but that era of Henderson is worthy of wider investigation. In Japan is blowing my mind all over again. I wish there were more than four songs on the U.S. compact disc. The rhythm section on that record is definitely no slouch. They were inspired!

Yep, the original Woodstock album has three LPs. Some of the recordings on the original Woodstock album were not recorded at the Woodstock festival, but that's another discussion. -
Would love to see this set. (Would it contain late 60's recordings as well?) Yes to both, particularly if the Barron set included Motivation, truly a hidden gem. It does seem, however, that Mosaic is predominantly interested in mining swing-era recordings from the 30s and 40s—though there's nothing wrong with that. The Pharoah Sanders set would be a notable exception. The last Hank Mobley and recent Bobby Hutcherson sets would also be exceptions. The demand for post-1960 recordings—or is it label and/or contractual red tape—might realistically prevent box sets from this era being produced. Not entirely sure, but I'm always a little surprised when a new Mosaic of swing-era recordings is released. I don't mean to complain though—any new Mosaic is just cause for celebration.
