  6. Another Ruby Braff I pulled from the shelves. On a few selections it sounds as if Ruby is right here. “Variety is the Spice of Braff” Arbors Jazz cd 400×400 35.3 KB
  7. Next up: The Bert van den Brink Trio with Rick Margitza - Conversations (Challenge, 1999)
  8. Michael Brecker as Tom Scott as Wayne Shorter!
  9. John Frusciante/Josh Klinghoffer - A Sphere in the Heart of Silence
  10. Previous thread Yes! (At least to the concert--I haven't seen the film yet.) I've revisited Shadows and Light several times this summer. Killer lineup and a great live followup to Miles Of Aisles.
  11. A great series. The mid-1990s through the late 2000s were a golden age for jazz CD reissues and box sets. I still have my Blue Note wristwatch that you got if you mailed in the OBIs from 10 of the first 12 Connoisseurs. Anybody else remember the "We DEMAND the release of the George Braith and Don Wilkerson Doubletimes" thread on the old Blue Note board when those announced releases were rumored to be in jeopardy? I think some board members were just about ready to picket EMI! 😄
  12. Not just Norah, but (kinda) Bobby McFerrin (Manhattan, not Blue Note proper) and US3 (definitely). Bruce Lundvall had a knack for getting hits to feed the coffers
  13. Rawness or if i sometimes call it; charm. 'Undeniable a yes for me'.
  14. now that’s an OBI 😇
  15. These series were both released when I was around 15 years old and started listening to music. I remember some Amsterdam stores sometimes sold them discounted for 7,50 a disc and I spent all my hard earned money from my part time jobs there on those Blue Note series.
  16. To be honest, I completely spaced that there was an Arista reissue, as I’ve only ever owned the Unit Core pressing. The artist on the original Indent cover was a student of Taylor’s at Antioch: https://www.royalfh.com/obituary/mr-doyle-roberson-7497857/print
  17. Yes, amazing times. I'm forever grateful to Norah Jones for putting so much operating capitol into the BN coffers in that era. Her first three BN albums sold millions and millions of copies...
  18. In response to a board members query about the complete set of Mosaics that is for sale: Paul Chambers #5 is the only one outwardly marked as a promo with a slight scratch through his name on the spine. The other sets may or may not be identified as promos inside. These following sets are still sealed: #4 Randy Weston #5 Paul Chambers (small scratch through name on spine) #8 Duke Pearson #12- Leibman & Beirach #14- Dexter Gordon #15- Art Pepper #17- Johnny Richards #18- Freddie Slack #19- Pacific Jazz Trios #28- Johnny Mercer #29- Onzy Matthews #30- Boogie Woogie Piano #38- Sam Rivers
  19. 2-CD Legacy version A great record.
