  2. Ray Nance Huffin’n’Duffin Ray Nance: Trumpet, Violin, Voice Kenny Drew: Piano Ron Matheson: Bass Daniel Humairi: Bass It,s a very nice work. It seems with Amstrong influence in the trumpet and Ellington in album structure. Violin touch add a nice sound to the album. Higly recommended😀
  3. More Ray Drummond: Bass – Ray Drummond Flute, Bass Flute, Alto Flute – Thomas Chapin Trumpet – Randy Brecker Guitar – John Scofield Vibraphone – Steve Nelson Piano – Kenny Barron Drums, Percussion – Marvin "Smitty" Smith Percussion – Mor Thiam
  4. Had no idea the BNBB was active in 1996 - sounds early but around that time I think I barely had email and was using a friend's WebTV box to access! Must have been a few years before I found my way to Jazz BBs.

  6. The Blue Note forum was only around for about 7 years (1996-2003), so this forum has outlasted it by quite a bit.
  7. The way-too-short "Way Out West" ended, so it's on to Kenny Dorham's "Live At The Cafe Bohemia" 2-CD set. I'm listening to disc 1 of the Ron McMaster CD set now and it sounds pretty good... well, except for the piano, which sounds a bit off. Sustained notes have a bit of warble. Probably on the master tape. This is coming out as a 3 LP/2 CD Tone Poet reissue soon. I'm going to pass on this one, as I think my old double-CD set will suffice. Sometimes it's good to have lost that upgrade itch. I think I've finally come to realize that my ears are fucked up enough at this point that it's money poorly spent to upgrade anything. That said, even my shitty ears can hear the lousy piano sound here.
  8. Well that has to be the case unless the internet pre-dated the implosion date by 23 years.
  9. Bass – Ray Drummond Saxophone, Flute [Right Channel] – Joe Lovano Saxophone, Flute [Left Channel] – Craig Handy Piano – Danilo Perez Drums, Percussion [Right Channel] – Marvin "Smitty" Smith Drums, Percussion [Left Channel] – Mor Thiam
  10. Sonny Rollins Way Out West (Contemporary/Analogue Productions) SACD version mastered by Doug Sax. I enjoy these SACDs, as they seem to try and mimic the original LP sound.
  11. Nope - I have days where the back button takes quite a few seconds to do anything. A couple of times, I went to another tab with a different website to see if that website was also slow (meaning my internet connection was slow) and found that it was only organissimo's forums that wasn't loading.
  12. Last night - excellent recording.
  13. Thanks, Kevin. I wonder if I am the only one with a problem on the days I have the problem.
  14. Am I correct that this forum exists longer than the Blue Note Board ever did?
  15. Happy Big Bang for the Big O Day! Twenty-three years and counting.
  16. One of my favorite Blue Note:) Great track (and Tommy T. sounds forceful indeed:) ! Especially fun to hear Sonny Clark forced out of his comfort zone: he acquits himself quite well!

Oh well. I know this is one of the few communities on the web that doesn’t need a YT video to know what Rocket 88 is.
