  1. I thought I had enough Bill Evans 20 years ago and still purchased "The Last Waltz". I am done now.
  2. I believe Cuscuna provided the info and Ruppli provided the format..
  3. But Ruppli did list all the stuff in the new Morgan set, excluding the Speedballs as stage exits.
  4. Notice the opened sleeve at the top! 2 pockets.
  5. More here -
  6. Prompted me to pull that one out. Haven't listened in ages.
  7. The Franck Sonata from this disc - it sound wonderful on the cello.
  8. I prefer the sound of the Blackhawk recordings but have a sentimental attachment to the Candoli, Kamuca, Freeman group because I saw them in person.
  9. Not unlike my feelings about Dunlop. Might be a Chicago thing. I suppose it is too much to hope for discovery of the first few takes from the Monk's Music date when Wilbur Campbell filled in for the tardy Art Blakey.
  10. Possibly - seems to ring a bell. FWIW, I believe Billy Abernathy took this pic at that event.
  11. No, this was a one off. The Chicago Jazz Festival started in 1979 and in 1982 we had a quartet of Freddie, McCoy Tyner, Ron Carter and Tony Williams. This was broadcast and the recording gets around.
  12. Hazy memory says raised stage near near the center, seats of the field, "box seats" in the first couple of rows of the stadium. Monk cancelled and Blakey was the sub.
  13. Firstly, the venue is Soldier Field and secondly, I was there.
  14. Mini lp version with 5 alternates added.
  15. I was not directly involved. The recording was produced by my friend Michael Cuscuna and he sent a copy to me.
  16. I should compare my original test pressing with the Koch cd.
  17. My hard copy landed along with the Lee Morgan box. Much listening to do.
