  1. An oldie but goody. I think I bought the lp from the RCA Record Club in high school.
  2. The two Storyvilles total over 83 minutes and there is the "Live at Koncertsal" lp with 3 more pieces.
  3. How many discs?
  4. Haven't listened to it in years. Thanks for the prod.
  5. When I moved back to Chicago in 1975 Don DeMichael invited me to join the board of the newly revived Jazz Institute of Chicago and Helen was also on the board. She left the city after a couple of years and I never really got to know her.
  6. Many thanks for posting this.
  7. I am listening and having a great time. Thanks for the notice.
  8. Decided to dip into this today -
  9. Bobby's birthday today. In a recent email he said "Will be 87 in July…UGH!"
  10. Any followers here? Reactions? https://sunra.substack.com/
  11. Are the UK issues different than the US ones?
  12. Just recently became aware of this Storyville box (3 cds, 1 dvd). I had the 2 quartet discs but not the one with Lockjaw. The dvd has 45+ minutes of Griff at the Vanguard and 16 minutes of Jaws in Copenhagen. I got the box for $14 on Amazon last week and see it is up to $19 today. The dvd listing misses a 17 minute version of What is this Thing Called Love by Griffin.
  13. My friend guitarist Scott Fields has marked himself safe in Cologne via Facebook.
  14. Listening to the sonatas from this box.
  15. Not exactly what you are looking for but (if you can find one) this is a fascinating document published in 1998-
  16. I remember the sessions and the rehearsals. In fact Roscoe called me last week to ask if I remembered when the rehearsals began. My answer was about a month before the first session. I think he was trying to nail down some publishing information. I also remember taking a phone call in the control room letting Lester Bowie know he was a new daddy - Fontella had given birth. I scribbled a note informing Lester and passed it into the studio. Unfortunately the note was passed to Lester Lashley.
  17. Haven't listened to this in ages.
  18. Long ago Gus Statiras was a friend. Sigh.
