  1. Here is a pic of Alison Fielder, lovely daughter of Alvin and Carol Fielder along with Roscoe Mitchell and yours truly. Here is a picture of the demon JSngry and me and finally Joe, JSngry, mjzee and me. Sadly CraigP and charlesp were not around for the pics. Glad I met you folks.
  2. Another pic. I swear to all that I did not accept the contract Jim gave me.
  3. Have not noticed this but have been on the road for a couple of weeks. Could you point me to an example?
  4. Which trumpeters of the post bop era are under represented on BN in the '60s, considering the stylistic confines of NYC and the time? They had Lee, Freddie and Donald under contract - Dang!
  5. Joe, JSngry, mjzee and me at the end of the evening.
  6. Just setting up my new turntable. Hope I can get an accurate 78 rpm from it. Tests in the morning.
  7. If you have the chance, thank the man. I dud,
  8. I knew him a bit (I am sure Larry knew him better). Early on he was a jolly barfly. I used to run into him at John Barleycorn on Lincoln Ave. He was a bunch of fun in those days. Later he swore off alcohol and was a "calmer" person. He was a wonderful human being. All the best to his wife.
  9. I was under the impression that CDs have always been cheaper to manufacture than LPs, even back when CDs first appeared. Not so.
  10. Matthew speaks the truth.
  11. Great to see so many group members. A (sadly, late in the game) group photo shoot was organized but CraigP and charlesp (I think that's his moniker here) were gone and/or missed. I will probably post something when we return home.
  12. Tonite it is the Roscoe Mitchell quartet with Hugh Ragin, Tani Tabbal and Jaribu Shahid at the Eldorado Ballroom in Houston.
  13. The duo concert was very fine. Had good conversations with them and Tani Tabbal and Jaribu Shahid. Edit for silly typo.
  14. We are on the road - Memphis tonight, Baton Rouge tomorrow. Any food recommendations for Baton Rouge?
  15. Are you talking about re-sequencing the tracks.
  16. Lotsa good eating along that route. I'll try to say hi to you at the show. Please say hi. I will be the fellow irritating the folks around me. :-)
  17. We leave in the morning - Louisville, Nashville, Memphis, Jackson, Baton Rouge and finally Houston. Seems like an interesting route to us.
  18. I think Kickstarter works best for artists, not money grubbing producers. It has been this way with foundations and other sources for decades.
  19. He should just lose.
  20. For my taste most, if not all of the pre-stereo RVGs are much better than earlier cds. The stereo sessions are variable.
  21. I have master tapes for both. Legalities are a mess but I may do something.
  22. Reissues of my other two Hal Russell projects are in the works. There are possibly 3 or 4 new projects but I am really wary of investing the time and money right now. Trying to figure out what makes sense in the current environment isn't easy. Thanks for asking.
