  1. Roscoe, Fred, Malachi and Alvin received the nomination, not me.
  2. I am sorry to say you might have found the wrong place to spend time. Best luck to you in your career.
  3. Old folks die. Some do much more than others, some do great stuff and never get recognized, some do lesser stuff and get recognized. We are all in a queue somewhere. Be appreciative of what you received and be ready to take your turn. Mr. Charles was in the middle of the pack, which means he's a hero to me.
  4. Jesus! I can't afford NOT to get it. Interesting they omitted this current disc: The Czech Suite is a long time favorite.
  5. Fine musician gone. Thanks for what we received and best wishes to your family.
  6. So, you are an artist. Hadn't picked that up before. All computations change.
  7. It would be nice if folks like me could issue music by big names without paying them - or not. This is our competition. I hope a few think of the consequences.
  8. I think all post war Lester is personal and I think he'd like it that way. Same with Lady Day.
  9. I agree with most of the above and it is still my favorite.
  10. I urge (once again) whatever cycle you have, search out #4 on Naxos conducted by Slovak.
  11. Spend extra money for SACDs and transfer them to mp3?!!
  12. The Earl Hines, Dexter Gordon, Don Byas, Johnny Griffin, Ben Webster and many others are terrific. The Bill Coleman with Guy Lafitte is wonderful. Big fan of the label. Bates no longer owns it - Euro pressings were fine; mostly pressed by Polydor. The US licensee (Audio Fidelity) made crappy pressings.
  13. I'd moved on to something else by 1966.
  14. The world has one less Dick. This one let me see Jerry Lee Lewis on tv. G'bye.
  15. I believe Hi-Lo 1402 was a 78/single.
  16. Might be the first time I "ignore".
  17. HOLY CRAP! It took this long to find the theft????????
  18. http://www.organissi...post__p__116047 So I guess the question now is did the daughters sell FD to someone else or did they relent and lease the rights? Yup. Thanks for clearing it up. Thanks for digging that up. I found this recent post by JLH: So Sony owned the catalogue up to about 2010, the daughters after that and it's now owned by whomever the daughters sold it to.
  19. Not my understanding. Unless something changed recently.
