  1. Perils of the WWII shellac demand.
  2. The video reminds me of a phone call from Lester. He'd just heard about the murder of Cosby's son and asked me to send a copy of the Art Ensemble's People In Sorrow to Bill. Sweet and sad memories today.
  3. The girls will be back in your life soon enough. Just wait - parenthood is a life long pleasure/obligation. The rest of the stuff will probably be sorted out. When our last pet (the beloved Maggie) died, we ultimately felt free. We have been empty nesters and pet free for quite a while. Ann retired 20 months ago and we have never been so busy. Best of luck moving on.
  4. We don't know. I was just pointing out the cover art was different/original. FWIW, they would not have saved/reused the glass masters, though they might use the same digital files. FWIW, the formats (audio {u-matics) and visual {printing negative films}) used in the early days of cd production are not used today. It would actually be cheaper to begin anew unless all the early editions were saved on a hard drive somewhere, which I find unlikely but not impossible. The cover scans would be new but the cd masters could be made from a first edition cd.
  5. Been there, done that. Saw the roadshow in the early '70s from the first row. Amazing.
  6. He was called Bunny.
  7. you can already see the answer.
  8. Nice. I hope you get to run the route soon.
  9. Now I have another "missing track" question concerning a Prestige date. Mildred Anderson's Person to Person - the cd has 8 tracks but Ruppli's Prestige book says an additional tune (Ebb Tide) was on the lp. Anyone know if it really was originally issued?
  10. When Lights Are Low is mislabeled as Just Squeeze Me on the original lp.
  11. Just Squeeze Me was originally on Miles, not Cookin'.
  12. Mister Lowe obviously has a high opinion of Mister Gorelick.
  13. Which CD release of this do you guys recommend? I see a Collectables, an "Avex Trax", and an M&I Japan on Amazon. Are they all more or less straight copies of each other or do some have NoNoise hideousness? I've got the 1989 Atlantic issue - the first CD issue. I've always assumed that the Collectables was a straight copy of the Atlantic. The '89 Atlantic package adds the Reprise lp called something like Greatest Hits Live and the Collectables is a straight reissue of the 2 lp Atlantic set. The horrible Collectables reissues are long in the past. More recent titles are very fine.
  14. Probably. We sat down in Chicago with his producer and taped a session. I think I did a phone interview later.
  15. Probably from an interview I did with Alyn Shipton a few years ago.
  16. Now that corrections have been made, what are you drinking?
  17. Who is Miles David and what is Columbnia? What are you drinking?
  18. Morris was not that silent.
  19. Maybe we should move this to the political forum.
  20. That would have been either Discount Records (I was regional manager of that store until Thanksgiving '75) or Minute Man Records (a few doors down the street).
  21. Kenny G is EVERYWHERE. As are bedbugs. But we are allowed to squash bedbugs. We have to endure Mr G.
  22. Nah, she'd wear long gloves to cover those and avoid questions.
  23. Yup. It was an order from the head of Sony.
