    I call those things "hats".

Here's a favorite with Wild Bill and Alvin Queen!
  3. Count me on the side of folks liking early Woods - before he "discovered himself".
  4. You will keep doing this for the rest of your long life. Good for you - you could be a fan of Liberace! Health will bring you more good music. In all seriousness, keep going and thanks for sharing on this board. Don't know if you know this but Muhal Richard Abrams is an SC fan, as he told me 45 years ago.
  5. Just instinct. No facts.
  6. Either the date or the personnel is incorrect.
  7. Interesting to see some (not all) Newbury orders are now "fulfilled by Amazon"! As a member of Amazon Prime, I now save $3 on each disc ordered from Newbury
  8. I agree. I've had that box since 1968. If you can find the book (it's a great 52 page "tome") you will be happy. I now listen to the music on cd (for convenience) but still pull out the book for reference. Would that be these recordings? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000002S29/ Same recordings, not the same transfers. edit to say I have these in a large (oop) box of cds on Dante.
  9. You might like Diana Krall - possibly an unpopular recommendation around here but she has skills.
  10. NYT
  11. Hot sure if these belong to Hal, but...
  12. Last time was a Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago. That was a couple of years ago. Before that was a general 20th century exhibit in Buffalo at Albright-Knox, from their holdings. They have a fantastic collection. Anyone with the opportunity should check out Albirght-Knox
  13. I think it is just fine to have LOC in possession of the source material (remember the recent fire), I am really bugged Universal is getting kudos for bailing on their responsibilities and having the LOC do their work for them.
  14. Larry, you must be looking at the lp version.
  15. And they won't have the storage fees.
  16. Does anyone need a new anyone?
  17. Enjoyed his Elmore records a bunch.
  18. I have had the opportunity to hear most of this music and think it is a wonderful representation of the band. I even considered issuing it on my label but the current economics of the biz drug me down. I unreservedly recommend this band and this recording. Sam is a very interesting composer/arranger, Johnny is a very fine drummer and Reptet is one of the very few real bands in the music today.
  19. I agree. I've had that box since 1968. If you can find the book (it's a great 52 page "tome") you will be happy. I now listen to the music on cd (for convenience) but still pull out the book for reference.
  20. Riverside did use Rudy early on and Keepnews has written (can't remember where) Grauer signed a contract with someone else. Maybe Chris knows but this would be before his involvement. Jepsen started in the middle of the alphabet - where Blackstone left off.
  21. You might like James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux series. The Neon Rain is the first in the series. If you enjoy audio books, check you library for the terrific version read by Will Patton.
  22. How do the transfers compare with your earlier versions of this music?
  23. I have changed my mind. I am now in favor of the death penalty - maybe public hanging.
  24. Thanks for the link. Unusual group.
