As I understand it, Leon Eason provided employment for Ike Quebec when gigs were thin. The BN date was an opportunity for Ike to give Eason some "pay back".
Sometimes I have a problem getting stuff out of my head when I have been working on something in the studio. Ten days ago I was mixing one of my dates and still wake up in the middle of the night with one (or another) tune going thru my head. Then I take a leak and return to the music for a while before dropping off to sleep.
Yes it is. Too bad they included a new version of The Thespian. The BN recording was the pinnacle of his discography for many fans and the new one fell short. Something else should have been included to show the special qualities of this wonderful date. Please pay attention to the session - a fine one. My complaint is only about one tune.
A listing of Uptown titles is available HERE.
The last lp issue was 27.32. The balance of the list is cd only. I see the list hasn't been updated in a while.
Not enough to make it worthwhile for me. You will get about 1 disc worth of new material, including a couple of sideman gigs backing singers.
I suggest printing out the contents and checking off the titles you have. That's what I did.
