Evan is a MONSTER. Please tell him I said that.
  9. So, Rooster has started a "grasping at straws" thread. Good thing he don't make a living from music.
  10. Bud Young was an old friend and compatriot on the Jazz Institute of Chicago board in the late '70s and early '80s. He retired from Montgomery Ward and moved to Seattle. His last stop was at my office to load up some records in his U-Haul. He said he was opening a store. Great guy.
  11. Great post. Thanks.
  12. I usually go to a film oblivious to the score. I have only bought a couple of recordings. Music dictates music purchases and story/director/cast dictate film viewing.
  13. Mike Bloomfield did some.
  14. I hope Les and Gil Melle meet in heaven and sort shit out.
  15. Yeah, he and Bob Bush used to honcho a shop called "Campus Records" I think, just a few doors down from where Discount opened. I hung out there *a lot*. Bought a lot of RCA Vintage and (God help me) Stereo re-processed Decca Jazz Heritage LPs in those stores! Small world! greg mo Bob Bush was a great friend in the early '60s when I was there. Campus Records used to be around the corner, west of the Hamburg Inn. All my extra money (and some of my dad's) went into that shop.
  16. Never worked in that store. I knew Beals from "back in the day" hanging around record stores. Last saw him about 10 years ago. He seemed the same. Hancher was after my time there.
  17. I just discovered this. Thanks for a blast from the past.

  19. So we've devolved to this.
  20. Tupac Frank Fontaine Foster Brooks Foster Grant Lou Grant Toulouse Lautrec
  21. Oliver Reed Ken Russell Tommy 2 late
  22. Monk's Brilliant Corners and Monk's Music were "life defining" recordings for me in high school and college. Dang, I just realized this was about 50 years ago!
  23. When you urinate, does it burn?
