  1. I'd buy decent transfers of the Wilson sessions without the Billie sides (have those a dozen ways). I have made my own cdrs of the material from my collection but would like a good set.
  2. Keep 'em coming! Same goes for me. Curious about your take on the Brunswick/Vocalion material.
  3. I've sung the praises of this set before. Through the years I've had this material on Riverside (10 and 12 inchers), Epic, Parlophone, Smithsonian (all lps) and cd sets on Music Memoria and the set under discussion. The Off the Record set is really special. The booklet alone is worth the price of admission. Let me also recommend a Frog disc called "Blues Singers and Hot Bands on Okeh" for a collection of fine sideman recordings by Mr Oliver.
  4. check for online owners sites - even usenet. I find these useful and you might find fixes/prices and workarounds.
  5. Is Miles in the band? If not, I might check out the Tommy Dorsey ghost band called Song of India.
  6. Many times the matrix numbers were assigned by the pressing plant. Work numbers, not master numbers.
  7. Sessions with Tommy Dorsey '45-47, Ray McKinley '47, McKinley again '57-60, Mundell Lowe '54 and Bobby Byrne '59. Name sometimes spelled Potoker.
  8. What are the Tyler CDs you have, Chuck? Mid Western Drifter Folly Fun Magic Music Live at Sweet Basil - vol 1 Live at Sweet Basil - vol 2 Voyage From Jericho - reissue of Ak-Ba lp
  9. Your only recourse is to buy new music.
  10. It (and the 5 other tracks from the session) are on Classics 944.
  11. Didn't you get the restraining order?
  12. Some of us consider presentation, style, and aesthetics as important components of the artistic experience. Are you a dancer?
  13. Known this stuff for 45 years. Bunch is great, some "not so". Best opportunity to get the good stuff in great sound. Hamp's swing (and harmonic ears) and the sidemen carry the day.
  14. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. The thread asked for our Mosaic wish lists; My wish is for the original cover art to accompany their releases. Since we're indulging in an exercise of fantasy, why should my fantasy be any less valid than yours? Some think it is about music.
  15. U can't imagine the excitement here!
  16. He had it 10 years ago.
  17. You can't imagine the empathy I have for her.
  18. Sorry to see the Carr/Strayhorn confusion at this late date. Thought we'd killed that with the Uptown cd I worked on. She was a real person deserving respect. The real info was published nine years ago.
  19. No mention of the Charles Tyler cds. I have 5 of them.
  20. I heard they went under last year.
  21. Buddy DeFranco, John Potaker, Sid Block and Alvin Stoller - NYC, late '45. I have a copy somewhere, left by a neighbor who exited via shotgun.
  22. I'm curious about the newly listed version on Yourmusic.
  23. Yeah, it's a little long and I'm guessing the budget was under $500. or generated for Utoob.
