  1. Yeah, ignore what the "artist" wants. I was told the problem was obvious on the first tune and they only did one take of each composition and went home.
  2. I'm a "sappy" guy falling for Focus every five years or so. Loved it in school and it seems to be imprinted.
  3. I'm sure the whole band is waiting to see which Democratic entry they will vote for.
  4. Outstanding! All the best.
  5. Why do any of you care about this?
  6. Horace guards his legacy carefully. After his death other stuff will show up if the majors still have jazz programs.

I can recommend a couple of things I found pleasant - his first Criss Cross date (especially the duets with David Kikoski added as cd bonus material) and a Kenny Barron quartet date also on Criss Cross. Honest player. FWIW, he's a very nice guy.
  8. Berry was a wonderful/important tenor stylist. Everyone should know his music but most of it is in short sideman solos. If you can't deal with that, avoid the set. I had all the music (minus some alternates) already so I couldn't see going for the box, sound improvement notwithstanding. If you can accept the big band limitations of the bulk of the set and want to learn about one of the founding fathers of the tenor, go for it. YMMV.
  9. Art Ensemble of Chicago Fanfare for the Warriors, Atlantic test pressing.

  15. When I saw the price I made a deposit but not the kind anyone wants.
