  1. New copies from a couple of suppliers for around $10 seems fine to me. I paid $15 for mine. All problems encountered with Amazon merchants have been "wiped clean" in my experience. If you want a burn, that's another topic.
  2. I think that recording is on Celestial Harmonies.
  3. Don't play any music for "non-musical" friends, play anything for "musical friends" - just ask Lazaro and Skid.
  4. Really sorry we didn't have more time to spend with Mr and Mrs Impossible and our resident "shrink". We had to head home on Sat morning to spend the weekend with our kids - family over music for once. Great to see a bunch of old friends too - Terry Martin, John Litweiler, Art Lange, Fred Anderson, Joe Segal, etc. The high point of Friday for me was the Velvet Lounge gig by Ed Wilkerson's Eight Bold Souls + Fareed Haque. Sorry to have missed the rehearsals of the Mazurek band with Bill Dixon. I look forward to reports on the event(s).
  5. Much worse. If that's all it was the company would still "function".
  6. The idiotic way they run the "playoffs", Michigan will be there and the Appalachian State game will be forgotten/forgiven, though Michigan will get a new coach. Fu** the whole deal.
  7. The Rogers and Hart title is inexpensive on Amazon. Didn't check the others.
  8. I think I beat all you guys. The money should be in my account soon.
  9. Cleaning out the pantry before we leave on vacation. You really don't want to know.
  10. They originally stated there would be 3 boxes in the new series. The last should be "sideman" dates.
  11. We might be at the fest on Friday and the Velvet that night. We have to be home on Sat since our kids are visiting for the weekend.
  12. I'm sure you miss your Moose as we will miss "our" Moose. Sorry about your loss.
  13. Not the same at all. Might have been the same if tv studios, movie studios and jingle houses existed at the time, but they didn't.
  14. Never was a deep groove. This 'deep groove' shit is stupid. How many people understand what it means, what makes "deep grooves' and how this relates to "originals"?
  15. Birks Works is a wonderful issue but let's not go friggin' nuts. This squirrel disagrees Let's see how fast that sucker can run.

  17. IIRC, the spotlight and the Famous Door were the same place.
  18. Either WGN or whatever station Wolfman Jack is on.
  19. No.
  20. Not DC. It was NYC. WTF!
  21. Jerry Newman recorded this stuff. Don Schlitten bought the original acetates and sent cassette dubs to a collector in Europe. Lps were issued from those tapes and the lps have been copied by a few folks for cd reissues. Uptown purchased the original masters from Schlitten. In a few months Uptown will issue a "double" containing all the material from the "primary source". The sound still isn't "great" but it is what the discs deliver. We've been working on this a couple of years (with the Gillespie estate, unlike others). The final info will probably be different than the current info. Interviews with surviving members add a bunch of information. Edit to say: A cheaper copy will be available from thieves in a couple of months after it comes out.
  22. In your first post you "exposed" a member hiding behind a screen name. Then 7/4 made note of this. Subsequent posts/edits/deletions corrected this. I love/appreciate/am irritated by "that member's" posts and wish he had the courage to stand behind them. I think all the "hiding" is diminishing to all involved.
