  1. OK - concentrated Sonny Dallas then ! HELLO!!!! Sonny Dallas is the bassist. The wonderful Nick Stabulas is the drummer on the rest of the set.
  2. It's only been 50 years folks.
  3. Two inch tape don't care if it's 24 track or 16. It is the recorder heads that matter unless you are talking about a one inch Fostex machine or something like that.
  4. So that's what you've been saying all this time. I says something different. Lots of missing "t"s in the world. Are they all my fault?
  5. So you should have moved earlier and then maybe the real set would be still in print and you wouldn't have to buy from scavengers. The real problem is people with the money "hold back" for a deal. Now reward someone else.
  6. there is nothing to get. just a bunch of musicians making noise. Thanks for the insight. Notice I did not use the word "intellectual" before the word "insight" ( if that's what you really meant).
  7. Here comes the turd in the punch bowl. I always saw him as a "decent, educated player" but never really felt him as a "natural" player. His blues (a claim to fame for some fans) seems "studied" in a way similar to Oscar Peterson. He is a wonderful guy personally, but that's what I think about his music.
  8. Nothing tonight. Just me and the wife of 44 years. Now, THAT is MUSIC!
  9. Whatever! Still imitation dollars.
  10. The RCA set has a 40 page booklet with extensive notes by Loren Schoenberg and some nice photos. The Definitives I've seen have "generic notes". I can't respond to your general aversion to alternates. They probably "copped" the RCA mastering and twiddled with it a bit. Good luck.
  11. Free shipping on orders over $20. I says "free USPS shipping on U. S. items valued $20 or more".
  12. Correct. I thought it was to keep the disc from slipping under the pressure of the cutter. It does both.
  13. Correct.
  14. Help me with this - does the estate have any rights regarding the reissue of a legitimate album? I wonder if the undoctored tapes (this date is a studio recording with dubbed applause) can't be found? IIRC, they found and "rehabilitated" the real "live" tapes and were planning an issue of those.
  15. Very fine playing (on modern piano) available inexpensively: Walter Klien on 2 Vox doubles. They have also recently reissued a 3 disc set of variations and other pieces.
  16. Please sir, go back and read your previous post. Nutcake.
  17. The Farmer estate made really unreasonable demands and the project was shelved. I have heard recently they relented a bit and the issue might come out.
  18. Once again, Horny blows it and misses the point completely.
  19. Isn't that the missing Art Farmer issue?
  20. Ah, I see - do you think those people chose Blue Note or was it EMI who did the deciding? MG No clue. Guy In (at least) the majority of those cases, the "artist" chose the "label".
  21. They are now owned by Caiman. I'm curious about the shipping time and fill. I hope Caiman doesn't spoil the Tower name.
  22. Could not make sense of that site but I will pay big bucks for certain "celebrity skin". If I'm impressed with the list, I will place an order.
  23. It is really disheartening to see so many recent vinyl pressings. If they are "what they claim" they are yet another use of precious "primary sources". Bad for culture, good for collectors.
  24. Or the tape warps, curls, shrinks, etc. All kinds of stuff can happen in really small increments.
