  1. Seems a post was deleted.
  2. Yeah, I stumbled across him once.
  3. Don't they all look alike?
  4. Wow. The plot thickens... Or the thought plickens.
  5. From Bruyninckx: -Quiet nights- : Sergio Mendes (p) + unknown others poss Hollywood, 1967 2-40723 Quiet nights (Corcovado) Philips PHM200-263 2-40724 Infinity - 2-40725 Amor em paz - 2-40726 So danco samba - 2-40727 Morning of the carnaval - 2-40729 One note samba - 2-40730 The tower - 2-40731 O peixe - 2-40732 Abraco a Sergio - 2-40733 Desafinado - 2-40734 Meditação (Meditation) - 2-40735 Insensatez (How insensitive) - Note : Entire session also on Philips PHS600-263 (stereo). Sergio Mendez turned towards pop/disco music but some of his albums contained interesting piano solos the titles of interest are listed here but a full listing is outside the scope of this work.
  6. FWIW, I never saw the orange/black label but I have an orange/yellow - MG V-2008, Gene Krupa "Drummer Man" with Anita and Roy.
  7. What gave it away Chuck? Just that Chet Atkins vibe.
  8. Yes, it's Monk. They must be alternates, unless they recorded more tracks than made it to the original album? Probably same performances, just different titles. Not alternate takes.
  9. So, do you play country or western?
  10. Listen to the record. Is Monk on piano? The discography I use says these are alternate titles.
  11. Wayne was the right guy for this band.
  12. Just a PS in the chronicle of MD, but an interesting one. I bought a Japanese lp as soon as it was issued. If MD is a favorite, I suggest getting the material. The earlier suggestion of the Sony box is good.
  13. Can anyone provide advice for the best/cheapest model to buy for the above stated task?
  14. No problem here.
  15. drummer looks like papa jo with some hair on top
  16. Just as a point of information, Lee Morgan didn't have a "process". That was his natural hair. do you really know that to be a fact? i'm sure he did "something" to it, that's for sure. That wavy shine was not natural. Lee did "something" as she said.
  17. Sorry, started to read the thread and "dropped to the bottom". I had a really nasty experience with the "velvet frog" a while back and all I can say is "fuck him".
  18. I feel sorry for Russ Solomon. He did a fine thing and I hope he doesn't feel defeated. Pick over the bones boys.
  19. Nah, some day I will tell a funny story - after Rudy's gone. There were ashtrays in the studio, but not the control room.
  20. The Schnabel set is the benchmark for me. I still have my Angel set from the '60s. I bought a couple of the Pearl sets and though I generally prefer a "non-intervention" approach for transfers, I found these too noisy for pleasure. I currently have a box on Dante (14 discs of Schnabel Beethoven) but it seems to be oop.
  21. Just "industry" shit.
  22. The correct words are opposite and together.
