Paul says my batting average is pretty good for him, but he has some "bummers". That's fine for him (and many others - see below) but I love all of "my babies". Bradford/Stevens was a big disappointment in the marketplace and I pressed fewer of volume 2. Not really fair to the artists to say how many. Sorry you don't like the Russell disc. I still think this was a killer "band" and think they are few and far between. The Russell records didn't sell well but the band was picked up by ECM. Might you see a pattern? I still have vinyl copies of Bradford/Stevens vol 1 but vol 2 is gone. I also have copies of Russell/Mars Williams on vinyl. No regrets here. EVER!

I'm a ratpacker. The correspondence must be somewhere. I look at stuff and stick it in a pile. Eventually piles go into boxes.............. Nobody (Secor excluded) bought the records.

When I saw the topic I was going to post "be sure to copy the book".

Can you get Dorothy Collins to do vocals? A pic of Snooky Lanson on the cover would be great. -
Same deal.

Here's another thread as I'd hoped for. You might like to know I can't find my correspondence with John. He mostly used post cards. I hope they are in the same box as my correspondences with Ross Russell and Lester Koenig (can't find them either). I got the Bradford/Stevens material from Alan Bates (Black Lion/Freedom) with Cuscuna as a middle man. Stevens was delighted and wanted me to press Bates for 3 or 4 additional unissued sessions. One was a large ensemble (including Parker, Rutherford, etc from memory) but I didn't have any money. DAMN.

Bruce always told me we were in the same position - Bob wouldn't do what we said so we did it ourselves. As I said earlier - different thread.

Waitress, waitress - can we get another round? Coffee only? We're outta here. -
Don't know if "you" refers to me or cliff or both. I'm unfamiliar with Arthur Jones on America. I was talking to you. Scorpio was produced by Claude Delcloo. As I understand the story, he was pissed with BYG and took the masters to America. BYG being pissed about that deal issues a "needle drop" of the America pressing.

"must have" Ellington dates, mid to late 60's, 70's

I have praised this disc in at least one thread - probably more. -
I'm just a music guy. My only "ax to grind" is "quality". Some folks don't seem to have the same standards. Edit to add: If I had the opportunity, I'd have recorded the Creole Jazz Band.

Nothing for sale on the site. If you go to the sales section it refers you to Amazon while they move their warehouse. Guess everything is going to LA. I have to wonder, will the estimable Action Jackson also be moving to LA? Seems questionable, but let's hope so... I bet Mr Jackson was in LA the whole time.

I hope you have the America issue.

Don't think Roscoe knew much of the "Euro" stuff before the stay in Paris so I can't give you more info there. I do know Rock hipped me to Gunter Christmann by giving me a copy of his first record. I know he was aware of Webern, etc in the '60s when we first met. Roscoe has "huge ears" and notices more than I can imagine. He amazes me all the time. Sorry you are puzzled by the mentioned label issues (why did you leave out the Lucky Thompson?) and will answer questions - though this should be conducted elsewhere (another thread or PMs).

I'll put in a plug for the Lafitte titles, especially Three Men On a Beat. -
They seem to have access to pressing plant "waste".

Did you misread this? "noooooooooooooooooo... ersatz Jon Abbey, who seems very eager to deflect attention from the fact he seems relatively uneducated in pre-electronic western classical (let's call it from Perotin to Present, tho' we can go further back than that w/appropriate degrees of conjecture) has to posture Significance."

BTW, showing the avant garde threads "a little love" should not include praising lousy music. I feel there has been a fair amount of that lately. I do admit that happens with other styles too, BUT.............
