  2. Forgot to say I have 2 copies not "spoken for" and I might keep the last one. Four are awaiting payment. Where's Mr BW after talking for years about ordering a set? Last chance. No box 2 Chaney.
  3. And.....Cannon is the big drag for me on this session (I've had it since '63). If the solos were split between the alto player, Coles, Knepper, etc it would have been a superb record.
  4. Answering a couple of posts here. Guys thinking they need music to "get girls" have problems beyond musical taste. If you define your friends by their reactions to your intellectual pursuits, you are in big trouble. My wife of 42 years is still here and she knows more/different things about Roscoe, Joseph, Lester, Malachi, etc than I do. She dances to Snurdy. Guess I'm lucky. My inspiration for the "limited - numbered edition" was Norman Granz's Jazz Scene. I'm sure that's the source of the Mosaic plan too. In the early stages of preparing the set, Charlie Lourie (Michael's partner in Mosaic) called me to buy my catalog so they could issue a set like this.
  5. I thought he was slow responding. I pondered posting a message about Jim's search for Jutta's offspring but decided against it.
  6. Rooster, it IS the SHOW BUSINESS. That is the "new" Concord. It is simply their business model and if it works for them, fine. If it works for us, better. I just hope they don't expect all of us to swallow the crap.
  7. No regulation against sending dead children?
  8. anyone notice it looks like Lost Wages, NV?
  9. Got no problem with orchestral................commercial was the word.
  10. I believe Reiner gets his info directly. I greatly prefer McCoy's late BNs and early Milestones to the rest of his "name" recordings.
  11. Can't wait for that sucker.
  12. Wrong!!! They get a choice of 5 from Lonson's. Just need to find someone wanting his Phil Napoleon sides.
  13. Banjo / accordian. Takes longer for a banjo to burn.
  14. Didn't know you had one of those.
  15. You should have provided an ashtray.
  16. Only 5 left until Lon's copy hits the market.
  17. I suggest looking for a "better word" for the Evans material. Cannonball gives me the heebie jeebies but "Great Jazz Standards" is a MF! I bought both lps in the early '60s and still play them. I suggest you leave the Ilori alone unless you are into African music. It is a fine "example of the type" at the time it was recorded and I still play the lp from time to time. The extra material is a bonus for those caring.
  18. Tell that to Virginia Russell.
  19. Bummer, I thought you meant Allen Lowe.
  20. Yes, but he's only a section player on this date. FWIW. about 25 years ago Ed Wilcox (of Lunceford band fame and one of the owners of Rae-Cox records) "sold" the rights to these masters (and others) to any number of record labels and delivered nothing for their money.
  21. Not if you hook it to your stereo system! That's the beauty of it. Line out from your stereo to your hard drive. I've been using it for over a year and love it.
  22. Just a note to say 10 copies are now remaining - not counting 3 I'm holding for promised checks. Thanks and good luck.
  23. Inport is a simple solution. It bypasses your soundcard and creates a wave file directly on your drive to play with. You can check it out HERE.
