  1. I think Kim is his wife.
  2. All the best to you my friend.
  3. Only a gazillion times.
  4. Harsh. Did you know him? What's that based on? It is based on my personal understanding of music and the value system commonly accepted/adopted (by me at least). I had a nasty personal relationship with him and still don't like his music. Had "nasty relationships" with a few other artists and still love their work. Please advise me of his "masterwork" so I can see/hear what I missed.
  5. After all this time I have to butt in and say Frank's music has always seemed to be "smart-ass frat boy" stuff by someone misunderstanding the "real deal". AND he was a real asshole in person. This is what happens when "universal literacy" reaches the masses. He was a bright guy without inspiration IMHO - just like the kid next door.
  6. She got the songwriting credits on The Last Album for some copyright reason I can't remember, but I believe on Music is the Healing Force of the Universe and The Last Album Ayler wrote most of the music and Parks wrote the lyrics. Henry Vestine got a few songwriting credits on the tracks he appeared on. It all happened 'cause Albert was in love (or something). Mary never did squat, other than messing up Albert and some of his legacy. I hope she buys some good "stuff" with the money.
  7. I think she works at Wendy's and might have given you your last frosty.
  8. To get real answers go HERE.
  9. so what are the upcoming Sony Legacy releases? Miles hip hop. Miles plays for lovers. Miles plays for folks buying cds at Wal-Mart. Miles plays 57 ringtones. etc. Mosaic lp editions to follow.
  10. Got back from Buffalo last night (looked for members on the street but Chaney and Ed didn't stand out in the crowd). Ann and I want to let you know we are overwhelmed by the responses and we thank all of you. Maybe we will make it to 44. Thanks again to all.
  11. When I told Ann the news this morning she said "They'll still go through with the sentencing, right?"
  12. I would not worry about it over the holiday weekend. It usually takes them a few days to ship. FWIW, Blakey, Mobley and Hill CDs are "coming soon" to yourmusic
  13. Excuse the personal note but I really needed to say something about the wonderful woman guiding me through life. As the title says, we have reached another milestone today. I probably wouldn't be alive today if Ann didn't exist. In the morning we are off on a road trip to visit Eric (our firstborn) in Buffalo. Ann, Eric and our wonderful daughter Carla are what count in my life. Music is next.
  14. Stop to think some huge entertainment entity spent $xx million dollars to give you "fun". We be really fucked up.
  15. I've loved the Colpix date since I first got it in the '60s. "Highlife" is still one of my favorite Westons after all these years!
  16. She didn't have any hip sides.
  17. Nice to see you posting riverrat!
  18. I always figured it was Georgia.
  19. Why compare this to other Hats? Compare it to the New Worlds and the MPS - these are by the same band. I suggest spending extra time with the New World recordings since they are "studio" and are the finished result of a lot of work compared to "live" recordings. I greatly enjoy all of them but the studio sessions are really special.
  20. Thanks for the link - but here's a corrected url: http://www.mattpeiken.com/Journalism/Arts%...les/gravatt.htm
  21. Don't worry about all the bread it takes. Your kids will be stronger if they have to pay their way and the wife just has to accept your spending.
  22. Gravatt can be a spectacular drummer. First time I saw him was in '70 with McCoy. The band also included Byard Lancaster and Herbie Lewis. As I mentioned before, they were burning and Cecil Taylor was jumping up and down next to the bandstand. Great night.
  23. I don't think you were off base as I understood you. Carl Jefferson started the label recording LA area guys that played at "his" festival. This was really an expanded "garden party" sort of affair and it grew. He recorded the guys he knew from the "fests" and these were LA "studio type" jazzers. He later hired a rep on the east coast to sign and record "east coast guys" and the content got younger and darker.
  24. Lotta stuff issued in bad sound so far.
