  1. Relax. Nothing I posted should be taken as hostile. I was just stating the facts as I saw them.
  2. I see my customer was reading this earlier. I wish he'd posted.
  3. Does $.55 work internationally? Don't think so. And I do have postage receipts to show shipment. Not that tough really. Although the UCC Art. 2-Sale of Goods-- refers to legalistic terms like FOB Buyer or FOB Seller, in lay terms it would probably work out like this. If the Seller guarantees delivery then the risk of loss is upon the Seller until such time as the Buyer receives the goods. If the Seller only guarantees shipment, then the risk of loss falls upon the Buyer from the time the goods are shipped. HERE is the rub. Seller still has the obligation to PROVE shipment. In other words, Seller is not necessarily responsible for items lost in the mail; but, he likely has to prove that the items WERE in fact mailed. Moral of the story.... always pay the 55 cents and get a Certification of Delivery or Proof of Mailing or some other evidence identifying the particular items shipped and when. Otherwise, I am afraid you may be stuck my friend..... Other views and opinions welcomed.
  4. Me too.
  5. A while back I posted an "inventory reduction" Okka sale. I had a fairly large order from one of our members and sent the package. I received a message the package did not arrive. I prepared a new shipment and the customer offered to pay half. I accepted. I "almost" broke even on the deal and the customer payed more than intended. Did I do wrong? This has been bugging me for a long time. If insurance is not requested, who's to blame? I'd welcome a post from the customer explaining his feelings. FWIW, I've had around 5 claims of "non-delivery" in the past 10 years. I must also add a couple of these were later confirmed as "delivered".
  6. Read this with care and consider the "choices" made by the band. The "record company" clearly has the upper hand but the band made a bunch of side deals and paid the price. They also decided to sign the contract.
  7. Never heard of Terry Adams?
  8. Another guy with the same revolting initials!
  9. Lennie Niehaus: The Sextet - 1980 King pressing.
  10. Sloppy reading. Sorry.
  11. BMG and/or Sony must have opened some operation in your neighborhood.
  12. Obviously no love for Hardman, Byrd, etc. Blakey made a bunch of records on other labels.
  13. I'm not sure I get the distinction... I think Lee is the better brass player, I think KD is the superior musical thinker.
  14. For "music" I select KD, for "trumpet playing" I select LM. BFD. The end result (notice I did not say profit) is music.
  15. So, is that a Catesta truck? Do you profit from other folks problems?
  16. Shame on all ('cept John L) for ignoring Herschel Evans and the rest of you for ignoring Buddy Tate (unless I missed something)! These guys defined the genre in the '30s and '40s. Everyone else ................................Oh, is this a '50s/60s thread?
  17. put off by your initials but enjoy your posts. all the best.
  18. Pleased to see the Freeman date(s) get some props. This is the one I will buy first since I don't have the 2 original lps any more. I hope MC moves into the Universal catalog for some issues of this type including Bud Freeman (Dot and Grand Award) and Pee Wee Russell (Dot).
  19. Ever the salesman.
  20. So how many 5-10 cd sets have you purchased?
  21. So, you are a lurker here. Please jump in more often. Don't you wish Henry was 22 now. I'd guess he might think awhile about that.
  22. Let us be rigid and set some standards! Forget all the rest of the crap, we need our life experiences to meet some standard. Uniformity is good for all. My answer is Yes, No, Sometimes, front, back and mixed. Depends on the player(s), session(s) and audience(s). Do you satisfy the biggest checkbook or................
  23. We were married in 1963. I hug her every day (and thank my lucky stars) and that will probably be it. I sent flowers to her workplace once and it became a $$ contest with others. Won't do that again. I lucked out beyond belief.
  24. Geez, the sun came up this morning and it was cloudy. I hope that doesn't mean a storm will follow and natural disasters after that and then the end of the friggin' world! Get a grip boys and girls.
  25. A little less alcohol and coming won't take so long.
