Similar to Phase One. Your call.

I'll have to look for that, I have an Italian 2cd import, and the sound is anything but quite clean. Wouldn't it easily fit on one disc?

Root Doctor - Been A Long Time Coming
Chuck Nessa replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Nice indeed. I heard the material in an unfinished form and enjoyed it a bunch. Lots of luck guys. Anxious to hear the finished version of "Been A Long Time Coming". -
Though not in the "new arrivals" section, Blakey's "Drum Suite" is back as well.

Hi all. Its kinda funny.. I've emailed some people and posted on some other sites looking for some hard to find LPs (including these ones) and generally the response has been quite negative. I think sometimes people have quite legitimate reasons for their scepticism (pushing up prices of out-of-print records?). Other times I'm not sure why they want to discourage people from seeking out old LPs. I still find it quite exciting even though I've been picking up interesting items wherever I can for a number of years now. As for the quality of the music on the LPs I've mentioned...well, as Mike said it's 100% subjective. I'm a big fan of free-improv-out-jazz from the 60s/70s. It positively affects my heart and soul like nothing else ever has. I thought Chuck might understand more than many why someone might like to get their hands on some rare vinyl from this musically & historically extra-important era. OH YEAH.... unfortunately I don't have unlimited funds. But if I was rich I'd probably blow it all on records! Happy holidays, have fun I thought my use of "questionable" and musical value would be understood as tongue in cheek! I had no idea anyone would see my post as anything else. I am still befuddled.

What did you listen to the most in 2005?
Chuck Nessa replied to GA Russell's topic in Miscellaneous Music
It just dawned on me I was hung up, for a couple months, on solo Earl Hines recordings. I have around 25 of 'em and played them all at least once. -
Dusty Groove lists a third volume to be available in March.

What don't you understand about " "? I don't think I offered a review, though I know the material. Why negativity towards my message?
-
Sure you disagree. Let us see if the IRS accepts your "seems to me". FWIW, any public institution worth it's salt pays less than "retail" for "product". There is an entire industry built around supplying public institutions at a substantial discount. At one time I was involved in submitting bids to the Chicago Public system for annual contracts.

Do you know if she's "soft spread" or "original"?

Why all the "over the shoulder" focal points? The photographers know something? -
No, the common way is a new message simply saying "up". BUT I must say you are looking for very rare lps of "questionable" musical value and don't think you will have the patience to type "up" 'til you get them. You are starting 30 years late OR have unlimited funds.

Sometime, in a reflective mood, I could be prodded to tell the story of negotiating with the Moore estate for rights to issue some music. Lots of "echos" of the "old" south.

When we moved from MA to IL in 1975 I called the local library (Winchester, MA) and said I had some lps and they sounded grateful. When I showed up with around 1500 lps, the folks seemed annoyed. Did not deduct anything - not sure if I was stupid or................... Getting out of town was reward enough.

I understand Bear Family won a judgment against JSP for something like "theft of their work".

Lee's my favorite post bop trumpet player (even over Clifford) but I always saw this date as only ok.

Have not listened in a long while but 25 years ago I thought she was interesting and the last thing I heard was the New Artists disc called Love Energy with Popkin. This must be something Sangrey was reacting to but I think this is an overreaction.

I just forwarded the thread to Michael Cuscuna. Maybe he knows something.
