  1. Tommy Howard - Storybook
  2. Everything is in good shape. The case has some shelf wear, but I can replace it if that bothers you. I'm asking $15, including US shipping, via Paypal.
  3. Continuing on with my deep dive into the Truth Revolution catalog. Sax, trombone, bass and drums. The Curtis Brothers have strong roots in modern jazz and Latin, so the Bandcamp subscription is paying dividends with some diverse listening.
  4. Dan, I received zero emails. It was if my order never happened until it showed up. If I remember correctly, the check came sandwiched between two huge pieces of sturdy cardboard, surrounded by bubble wrap. My mailman could have sat on it and it wouldn't have mattered. So, I wouldn't worry about the lack of emails. Your vinyl will probably arrive via a courier who is carrying it in a suitcase that is handcuffed to his wrist.
  5. I ordered the Wyands check probably back in October and I received no email. It took them a little time to get it out (it arrived in 2 weeks or so), but it was meticulously packaged and basically bombproof. Out of curiosity, what did you order? They have a listing for three signed Reggie Workman CDs that I wish they'd break up. I'd order a single disc, but the cost for three is out of my price range. I'm rich in appreciation for Workman, at least.
  6. The Phil Schaap store can have some interesting stuff. I bought a Lee Konitz signed CD a year or two ago and a check signed by Richard Wyands. I briefly talked to both gentlemen but didn't ask for an autograph, so it was cool to later find two mementos.
  7. I saw him live once with Greg Abate back in 2007. I remember enjoying his playing that day but I somehow never saw him again when he occasionally came to Cleveland. Thank you for the music, Mr. Cole, and rest in peace.
  8. I just ordered the only copy I could find. What a band! I'd never heard of Jon Nagourney before. He died last year at the age of 63. Now playing:
  9. This is a nice Sonny gig. The first time I saw Sonny, it was the same band except with guitar (Bobby Broom) instead of piano and Willie Jones III on drums. Kamati Dinizulu sadly passed away a few years ago.
  10. Although Steve Davis and Eric McPherson have since become well-known, pianist Alan Jay Palmer, trumpeter Raymond Williams and bassist Phil Bowler also do good work here.
  11. I think that I only have heard him on some Fort Apache Band albums, but that was a heck of a group. I'd like to check out his leader date on Truth Revolution Records. Thank you for the music, Mr. Gonzalez, and rest in peace.
  12. I am still deciding. I may end up signing up for a subscription to Truth Revolution Records. For as low as $10 month, you can get access to their entire catalog. If I don't go that route, I may just buy an individual album or two. I'll probably pick up something from Destiny Records after picking up 3 impressive releases from them recently (Tom Guarna, Jon Crowley and Tyler Blanton). Update: I ended up going with the Truth Revolution Records subscription and Tommy Howard's Storybook from Destiny Records. TRR has 40+ releases with more in the pipeline, so I have some listening to do.
  13. I was in a Jackie Mac mood, so why not Jackie Mac with such an illustrious band? I hope Roy is doing okay during the pandemic. He is, like always, in crackling form here. I need to pick up Vol. 1.
  14. I love that one. I like to listen to it in the morning and sing along with the horns behind Quinichette's solos. Barry Harris - Luminescence: Unless I am mistaken, this is my only Harris-led date. How is that possible?!? Barry Harris is the man.
  15. I've been making more purchases from Bandcamp lately. Thanks for posting about this.
  16. I was in an alto mood and went with these today: Justin Robinson - Just in Time John Jenkins with Kenny Burrell Larry Willis - Steal Away (Gary Bartz) Sharel Cassity - Relentless Robin Kenyatta - Ghost Stories Jackie McLean - 4, 5 and 6
  17. Michele Rosewoman - Occasion to Rise, with Rufus Reid and Ralph Peterson, Jr.
  18. They have been posting some great stuff. I'm listening to a Roy Hargrove sextet with Larry Willis now. They posted Von Freeman's 75th birthday gig today, which was a surprising one. I'll be checking that out tomorrow.
  19. The Roy Hargrove sextet on the Blue Note's Patreon page, with Larry Willis, Sherman Irby, Frank Lacy, Gerald Cannon and Willie Jones III. It's still tough to listen to Hargrove and Willis for me.
