  1. Thanks, Jim! It's clear from that interview that you're as articulate verbally as you are musically. You know, hearing that interview made me think how well a similar feature would play on a couple of nationally syndicated radio shows that originate here in Philly: "Fresh Air" with Terri Gross (produced by WHYY), and "World Cafe" with David Dye (produced by WXPN). Both are heard on hundreds of public radio stations by millions of people across the country every day. You guys should send them this interview and both of the CD's, and maybe pitch it as the story of (1) a regional band about to break nationally, (2) pushing the jazz-organ-trio in new musical directions, (3) making unique use of an internet bulletin board to develop an international following while fostering the development of a diverse international on-line community of jazz fans. Just a thought.
  2. How do they do it? VOLUME!* *allusion to local NYC TV commercial 25-30 years ago
  3. I'll archive it on the site. ←
  4. Did I miss all of Jim's interview? Damn, I can hear the CD anytime, but I was hoping to finally hear Jim speak!
  5. I disagree-- unless you make large BMG orders, yourmusic is generaly cheaper. . . . and simpler.
  6. Yeah, like a few millennia . . . .
  7. Isn't that what the whole iPod/MP3 thing is about? Sort of a return to the ol' 78/45 days--except you load up a thousand at a time.
  8. Here's the G-rated version: (I used this in another thread )
  9. Yeah--only Nessa Records promos allowed.
  10. And, in case this hasn't already been made clear, you can buy your "nonqueue" CD's any time you want, not just as part of a monthly queue purchase. And all CD's--including those in box sets--are always $5.99 each, with free shipping (and no sales tax in many states--unfortunately not including PA). So, for example, I got the Verve 16-disc Ella Fitzgerald Songbook box from them for $95.84 (16 x $5.99). Definitely a consistently great deal for the titles they carry.
  11. Ok, so now you got it, what did it say? --eric ← It said:
  12. Based on their "Featured Album" choices, probably not much.
  13. . . . but she looked so great in those gloves and high heels--naaah, on second thought, better not try that one.
  14. ← What's the deal TM, you trying to start an anti-J.J. lobby? ← No, he just has a "thing" for Anita.
  15. I keep telling you guys: she's still around, and probably available.
  16. Isn't that the larval stage before the metamorphosis into something completely different?
  17. I think that's Admiral Halsey.
  18. Still Babe-A-Licious and doin' that sexy androgynous thang! (Did you know she gets her suits at Brooks Brothers? No joke. She even links to their site on her home page. )
  19. If I steal that idea, do I have to credit you? Me, Isaac Hayes, Richard Roundtree, AND Samuel L. Jackson:
  20. I think "Shut Yo Mouth" would make a great tune, with Jim and Joe improvising to the chord changes from "Shaft".
  21. Aren't you the "Scott B----" listed as a sponsor in the liners? As the saying goes: money talks.
  22. Yeah, the good ol' Evolution Scam.
  23. Perhaps the more pertinent question is whether she has the same dream.
