  1. For the record, there is one 1940s JATP concert that is not included in the Verve box--a 1949 Carnegie Hall session for which Pablo (i.e., Concord/Fantasy), and not Verve, owns the rights: It's a real doozy and shouldn't be missed (just check out the lineup on the cover), and is available on a Pablo CD here. I have the Verve box and haven't listened to it in some time, but it's a great document of that genre and era if you can swing the cost.
  2. Just start mentioning the free CD codes in the BMG thread--you're WAY overdue. EDIT: Ooops--just noticed the code you posted 3 days ago. Well, it HAS been a whole 3 days since then, so you're still overdue.
  3. Dude, you better get on it!
  4. I added "Columbia" to the thread title, to avoid any further Roulette expectations being dashed.

  6. Now listed in "Upcoming Releases": http://www.mosaicrecords.com/genres.asp?dept=50
  7. There is a release from our Andorran friends that includes only the master takes from these sessions, and it received a rave review on AMG, for what it's worth. But you didn't hear about it from me. I actually have both the official and the "unofficial" releases of these sessions, and this is a case where I do enjoy having the alternate takes.
  8. The Woody Herman ($35.23 shipped) and Randy Weston ($35.99 shipped) Selects are still being offered at great prices (follow the 2 links in my post immediately above).
  9. I went through that twice last year...I came home and started calculating how much equipment to sell to buy a new guitar - and then didn't do it! BTW I did get that guitar. It's fuckin' sweet. Did you straighten up the tuners? :
  10. Import CDs is currently selling the Woody Herman Select through Buy.com for only $32.75 plus $2.25 shipping: http://www.buy.com/prod/mosaic-select/q/lo.../207988486.html I ordered one a few days ago, it was shipped the very next day, and I received it today. Some of the Deep Discount Select bargains listed in the first post of this thread are also available through the Buy.com site (for the same price as on the Deep Discount site and also with free shipping): http://www.buy.com/umerch/q/orderby/0/quer...aic+select.html
  11. A favorite!
  12. Incidentally, I received the 2 Selects (Mulligan and Bechet) I ordered from Deep Discount in short order.
  13. Can you send me a zipped file of all of your Mosaic sets? No, but I can send you a zipper for your mouth.
  14. Just out of curiosity, was the booklet hand-numbered on the inside cover?
  15. I still have a .pdf of the 2004 Fantasy catalog on my computer--terrific resource! PM sent about that! And answered! A couple of Board members have requested that I email this to them. If anyone else wants it, PM me with your email address, and I can send you a zipped file (which is still 23.6 MB).

  18. I can easily recommend this 3 CDs set: Essential. Also be sure to check out the BG small group recordings currently issued under Charlie Christian's name, such as: But, as already pointed out, the 1935-38 big band stuff is the place to start--think "Sing, Sing, Sing" (with some nifty small-group material also thrown in for good measure): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzaVNwkoZqc...feature=related
  19. The Horace Parlan Mosaic is now in "Last Chance."
  20. Yes - we'll meet at Ron's house.
