  1. The man needs longer pants! That's just the effect of Peggy's singing.
  2. 54. That photo was taken on November 8, 1863: http://www.abrahamlincolnartgallery.com/archivepage4.htm
  3. Speaking of guitar, the Herb Ellis and Kenny Burrell sessions in the Columbia Small Group box are real gems, especially the Ellis. It's been a while since I listened to that box, but I remember enjoying the Ellis sessions quite a bit.
  4. So honesty does pay.
  5. Not about to review 41 pages in this thread to see if it's already been posted, but I just put this one in the listening queue: and here's the back side:
  6. Shawn, for what it's worth--and I'm not sure it's much --Steven Osborne's complete Debussy Preludes (Hyperion) and Mitsuko Uchida's complete Debussy Etudes (Philips) are very highly regarded in some quarters (e.g., The Penguin Guide), and are currently available from BMG/yourmusic. I don't know if you're a member of either or both, but if you are, you might want to check 'em out.
  7. Nevertheless, "Undercurrent" seems to have pioneered its use as an album cover.
  8. Of course, any similarity between that cover and this one is purely coincidental:
  9. Uhhhhhhhhhh . . . . . . . . . . yeah. But only on video. And also in person.
  10. I saw this thread and almost went for it, then checked and realized I already bought it. You must play it a lot.
  11. Isn't that a scene from "Mouse-ian Impossible"?
  12. A bunch of us organissimites took advantage of a similar Newbury deal on this set a year ago--only then it was FIFTY bucks, and we thought THAT was a terrific bargain!
  13. If this is your first traversal through these, you're in for a major treat!
  14. Sounds like a sewing forum.
  15. I said a boycott, not a bloodbath.
  16. Speaking of which, they currently have a terrific deal on the 5-disc Schnabel/Schubert box (with 2005 transfers/restoration by Mark Obert-Thorn)--only $19.95. Brand spankin' new and sealed, and NOT a cut-out. The only "issue" is that the catalog number on the spine is incorrect (1173 instead of 1175; it's correct on the back of the box)--like anyone would even notice if BRO didn't point it out. Ordered this one. Thanks for a tip on a great bargain, Ron. My pleasure. I'd had this in my sights for quite some time, and was thrilled to find such a terrific deal.
  17. Edward, that's what I did. We'll see if they get back to me. I'd call them: 317-692-9200 And ask to speak to a supervisor. Ron, been there done that, twice already. They refused to pass me on to a supervisor. The first time I was angry about it. The first time she promised me that they would contact me by mail. The second time he promised me that they would call me within 36 hours. (They didn't.) You will note that my access to the website was cancelled Dec. 22, but it was not until Jan. 21 that they informed me of what was up. Pretty poor organization all the way around, it seems to me. Maybe it's time to organize a boycott.

  19. We paid in fruit pies. MAN, was that expensive.
  20. The original post is from 2006. Good luck! Stumbling into a time warp--I just HATE it when that happens. Almost as much as phasing into a parallel dimension (in which Allen Lowe actually makes sense ).

  22. Got a UPS shipping notice this afternoon. Maybe the two guys and girl at the pizza place monitor this board.
  23. That's what hooked me.
  24. I hope their pizza deliveries are quicker.
