I am a rock I am an iiiiiiiiiiiiisland. Big Al is actually The Rock???
-
That's a very nice disc--IMO even better than the sound samples would indicate (just like I told you about the Hodges Mosaic ) .
-
Gotcha covered, Agg. I'll PM you to make sure we're still on, and then I'll FWD the total to you. It's things like this that make this the best hang on the internet! Thanks Al, you rock! PM sent too. You'll love this from the confirmation page: Total Price: $57.73 Your Savings: $346.59 It doesn't say this on the page, but I calculated it out: $2.14 per disc! Gee Agg-ravation, you know I would have done that for you if I'd seen your post in time. (I can say that now even if I really wouldn't have, and still get credit for being a helluva guy. )

Just noticed they recently put something at the top of the Johnny Hodges page that I've never seen on the Mosaic site before: http://www.mosaicrecords.com/prodinfo.asp?number=200-MD-CD

It still shows up in "Running Low" and not "Last Chance." Tom, maybe the Mosaic guy was just trying to give you a plausible alibi to use with your wife.

Doesn't seem to work for me, it's coming up as $34+ . Have you (1) logged in and (2) removed any codes from the promotion code window on the left?
-
Crazy, crazy low prices on box sets (e.g., Complete Norman Granz Jam Sessions for $8), with free shipping for 5 or more discs (that's DISCS, not sets). No code--remove any codes to get this deal.
-
Code please? No code, Agg-amemnon. If you have a code in the promotion code window on the left, remove it. Blue Trane's right--CRAZY low prices (e.g., 8 bucks for the Complete Norman Granz Jam Sessions), with no shipping once you get up to five discs in your cart (which you do with just one set like the Granz). Just go to the Jazz tab on the top of the home page, and then to "Boxed Sets" under "Explore" on the right, and start browsing (and buying ). Of course, same crazy low prices for box sets in classical, rock, etc.

Flurin, the Rich set definitely has been issued in a Universal edition. In fact, that edition recently was available from an American half.com seller for an incredibly good price (of which a few board members were able to take advantage ). So keep a sharp eye out! -

Definitely the former. If it is definitely the former, then why is there a danger that it will sell out by this weekend? Or is that your way of saying that Tom was given false information? They've definitely sold far fewer than 7500--the copy I received last week is #5631. The set has no doubt timed out, and they're selling whatever they have left in stock (they don't manufacture the entire potential run of a set at one time, and usually sell out whatever they have in stock when their license for the recordings expires). -

I hope not. ... I can handle cracked jewel cases, loose discs and all that, but busted prongs is a pain in the ass. Gotta pull the damn thing apart to get all the artwork out and stuff it it a new case. ... If you can buy new cases that hold 4 CDs, get a few for me MG Here's one (I think): Lots of that kind of stuff available here and here.

Mike, not to throw a monkey wrench into your decision-making process, but I just got the Hodges set and am now 5/6 of the way through it, and have found it to be much more enjoyable than the sound samples would have suggested (at least to me). There's lots of wonderful music--of both the bluesy and swinging variety--with terrific playing by the likes of Ben Webster, Roy Eldridge, Herb Ellis, etc., not to mention the opportunity to hear lots of playing by Billy Strayhorn and, of course, Jeep/Rabbit himself. From what I know of your musical preferences, I think you'd really enjoy this set, also. Of course, if it turned out that you didn't, you could easily trade or sell this one, especially since it will soon be OOP. -

Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?
Ron S replied to Soulstation1's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
The Complete Verve Johnny Hodges Small Group Sessions 1956-61, discs 4-6 Really enjoying this one. If you don't already have it, grab it from Mosaic before it's too late! -
my baby (3 1/2) always asks me to put on some jazz music! As the father of a 13-year-old, trust me: that will end.

Me too. -
note: this is part of Windows, not an aftermarket program. And you also can access it if you go to the start menu/programs/accessories/system tools/character map. If you want, you can copy the icon from there, and paste in on your desktop or taskbar for easier access when you need it.

The truth is now out--I only joined organissimo because I'm a member of Allen's street team, "hired" to promote his new CD (sort of the jazz bulletin board equivalent of a sleeper cell).

Alas, those rugged good looks are not mine.

A more pertinent question is: who is this man? And, who sat on his lap to take this photo?
