  1. Good news, Joe! I bet the important thing to you is that you now know who was involved. When you do not know then your imagination can conjure up all kinds of scary ideas. You didn't press charges. You are so nice, Joe. Man, I would have been hopping mad, especially since they hit me twice. But you have to take all things into consideration in these cases; and you apparently have. Good luck and sleep well from now on! I don't think he said he didn't press charges--he said he didn't press for details of how they were arrested. As a former prosecutor, I'll personally moiderize Joe if he doesn't press charges! Who knows how many other houses these kids have burglarized (or will in the future if they're not prosecuted).
  2. I, for one, refuse to do that--it's far too revealing.
  3. I just saw this! I hope it didn't happen while you were staying with me.
  4. Don't give up yet on "Play Peter Gunn!!" It has Victor Feldman playing some nice vibes--and MARIMBA (as does "Son")! And of course it has the original Peter Gunn theme (which "Son" does not). Check out the samples and review here: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&a...10:wxfpxqwgldje If I were you, I'd get both of them (which I did).
  5. Oh, MAN! You CODED! SOMEONE GRAB THE PADDLES!
  6. Another for both "Play Peter Gunn" and "Son of Gunn!!"
  7. Are the codes still working for you? They worked (unlimited) until Tuesday for me. Of course, my definition of unlimited and Ron's are probably alot different! The J8E1 and J8E3 codes for a single free disc were working as of yesterday, but only one time each. I think BMG's been weaning us off the freebie habit rather than making us quit cold turkey.
  8. Not quite.
  9. My worry wouldn't be that it isn't legitimate, but that a CD-R won't last as long as CDs. I've had several CD-Rs go bad within a few years, but even my earliest CD from 1983 plays fine. I used the legitimacy pretext in order to get a response from Candid, given that relyles apparently had been unsuccessful in getting one. I guess it worked.
  10. You better keep that email, in case you ever want to re-sell that disc to anyone else - as proof that it's a legitimate copy. Funny you should mention that--I just got through folding up a copy and sliding it into the jewel case cover (great--or neurotic--minds think alike ).
  11. I recently purchased Jaki Byard's "Blues for Smoke" on Candid and, like relyles, was (unpleasantly) suprised to find a CD-R inside the jewel case. I sent an email inquiry to Candid, and just received the following reply:
  12. Don't ruin it for the rest of us! Why? You think they'll notice 278 orders going to the same address? Won't the postman hate you? Good thing I don't deliver mail on his route. Yeah, it is a good thing. You'd probably snatch all of my CD deliveries, since we seem to have similar tastes.
  13. Don't ruin it for the rest of us! Why? You think they'll notice 278 orders going to the same address? Won't the postman hate you? OK, so maybe 278 was a slight exaggeration.
  14. And each one of those can be used one time (i.e., you can get a total of 2 free CDs--plus shipping and--for some of us--tax, of course).
  15. Does this mean that you're not interested in trading for the Wolf Biermann CD? You know that's not an even trade!! ...let me throw in a Miles Plugged Nickel box set too, then we'll call it even. Deal. Now it's a matter of public record.
  16. Hell, I look at people in the 90s and think that! I look in the mirror and think that.
  17. Does this mean that you're not interested in trading for the Wolf Biermann CD?
  18. Miles/Trane is now in "Last Chance."
  19. Have to admit I checked my set (I've had it for almost 3 years) and I'm ok. I've played the set a couple of times but feared I'd been "brain dead" part of the time. I thought I was getting up to speed on some of the music more quickly than normal. Nothing like a wee bit of repetition! Thanks for the recs by the way. I just got their Bartok set in the mail today (not from yourmusic - just call my "the fed," as I thought I should inject some cash into the music industry at more old fashioned prices. Having checked out other quartets' versions from the library I have a feeling the Takacs still be a steal on my part.) If you haven't gotten it yet, you might also want to check out the Takacs' Schubert CD at yourmusic: http://www.yourmusic.com/browse/album/Taka...CO_14648_ALBUMS I haven't heard this CD yet (I have other recordings of these two quartets), but I do have it on order.
  20. Where'd you get a photo of my garage?
  21. You didn't like sitting in my lap?
  22. They're on to us!

  24. You and I both. How 'bout some group therapy?
  25. Don't ruin it for the rest of us! Why? You think they'll notice 278 orders going to the same address?
