  1. Ooops.
  2. I waited FOREVER for this to hit the great BMG-Direct Empire, and finally grabbed it somewhere else a year or so after it was originally released. Makes you wonder why some items like this show up at BMG after they've been out for a couple of years.
  3. Thanks, Sandi! Fascinating! I remember seeing your Lighthouse avatar and references over at AAJ when I used to go there, and I always wondered how you had become so intimately familiar with it and the incredible legends who played there. I look forward to your posting lots more stories here!
  4. Sandi, what a great story! Pardon my ignorance, but what was/is your relationship with the Lighthouse?
  5. You can always delete a post ("delete" button at bottom right of post).
  6. Eula, thanks for the excellent--and somewhat Faulkneresque --summary.
  7. For those of us who stopped visiting AAJ some time ago, is there a short version of what happened over there that anyone cares to share?
  8. Derailing a thread to this extent is an art form (and in this case, you'll notice, took the joint efforts of several talented individuals).
  9. Were you into the late-60s/early 70s syndicated ones with the outrageous psychedelic sets & hosted by Gary Moore? Those were my favorite! Nothing could beat Bud Collyer and his psychedelic bow ties.
  10. No kidding! I was somewhat addicted to "To Tell the Truth" in the 60s - and 70s, too. "Accomplished radio actor Bud Collyer was Superman's voice from 1940-1950. As the first man to ever play Superman, he defined the Man of Steel for a whole generation of radio listeners." http://xroads.virginia.edu/~ug02/superman/origins.html
  11. FINALLY, Chuck has something substantive to add to this thread.
  12. If I have to look at Marilyn Monroe's booby hanging out one more time, well, I may just have to go misattribute.
  13. Couldn't afford the shipping costs of the B3... Not to mention the costs of shipping Jim, Joe, and Randy. Looks like a terrific lineup, by the way.
  14. Did you know that Bud Collyer was the first Superman on the radio? My dad hipped me to that when we were watching Bud host "To Tell the Truth" back in the '60s.
  15. What????? No organissimo this year?????? I guess I'll cancel my reservations.
  16. Not until you tell us your first name. <----------(for Dan)
  17. Whenever I hear about Georgia Frontiere, what immediately comes to mind is: Some well-entrenched childhood TV memories.
  18. Good news, Joe! I bet the important thing to you is that you now know who was involved. When you do not know then your imagination can conjure up all kinds of scary ideas. You didn't press charges. You are so nice, Joe. Man, I would have been hopping mad, especially since they hit me twice. But you have to take all things into consideration in these cases; and you apparently have. Good luck and sleep well from now on! I don't think he said he didn't press charges--he said he didn't press for details of how they were arrested. As a former prosecutor, I'll personally moiderize Joe if he doesn't press charges! Who knows how many other houses these kids have burglarized (or will in the future if they're not prosecuted).
  19. I, for one, refuse to do that--it's far too revealing.
  20. I just saw this! I hope it didn't happen while you were staying with me.
  21. Don't give up yet on "Play Peter Gunn!!" It has Victor Feldman playing some nice vibes--and MARIMBA (as does "Son")! And of course it has the original Peter Gunn theme (which "Son" does not). Check out the samples and review here: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&a...10:wxfpxqwgldje If I were you, I'd get both of them (which I did).
  22. Oh, MAN! You CODED! SOMEONE GRAB THE PADDLES!
  23. Another for both "Play Peter Gunn" and "Son of Gunn!!"
  24. Are the codes still working for you? They worked (unlimited) until Tuesday for me. Of course, my definition of unlimited and Ron's are probably alot different! The J8E1 and J8E3 codes for a single free disc were working as of yesterday, but only one time each. I think BMG's been weaning us off the freebie habit rather than making us quit cold turkey.
  25. Not quite.
