  1. Nope, 'cause I could always hear this stuff - then and now - on the radio if I wanted. When it wasn't "Free Jazz" or some music from some other corner of the world, then the closest to pop would've been Krautrock - loved that stuff as a kid! All 5 of those pop LPs that Johnny mentioned, I've never heard either, but the others (except maybe Blue Rose) - you bet! --- Now playing: The Vandermark 5 - Rip Rig and Panic Suite
  2. It's here! ...and it's a beaut! (plus the 2 CD comp and a Polish movie DVD as a late apology). Yup, this is definitely getting the daylong rodcast treatment here in about an hour! purrrrrrrrrrrty thang it 'tis! --- Now playing: John Patton - Let 'Em Roll
  3. I've never heard a complete Beatles album ...or Bob Dylan album...or...heck tons of titles! What's suppose to be the record holder? Isn't it "Dark Side..." Nope, haven't heard that one either... Way too many!
  4. Of course, a person can't know what a sniper's thinking when it comes to that last bid, but if a guy's been inchin' his way thru an auction and decides to snipe at the end, there's a pretty good chance that he'll be inchin' there too. You know, it's at $100 and he may snipe at $105 or something close. That's good news for the highest bidder if he was smart and made a genuine maximum bid - his maximum. ...but where it gets rough is when the sniper has been watching and hasn't bid yet - right out of the blue - he swoops down and places a sniper bid. At that time, all you can hope for is that you placed the maximum bid that you can handle. It always comes down to this - sometimes, praying that it never gets as high as your max. I've bid ridiculously high on things and went, "Oh s**t, man, what was I thinkin? - ohhh, boy..." - of course, with full intentions of honoring the deal, but whooooa, sometimes...
  5. Nice rundown of the Pharoah 1973 Sessions (incl. "Elevation"): Pharoah 1973
  6. Yup...know what you mean...and NO hints!
  7. How well do you get along with your neighbors? All in a line would seem to scream human.
  8. Hey Brad. If you like, I can do it for a small fee...
  9. Does he/she play an instrument? If so, could we narrow it to idiophones, etc...? I'm assuming a musician because if s/he was once the head of Ghana or something, then this would be in Politics?
  10. I keep thinkin' Hakim Bey...then Andy Bey...etc...but I have no idea...
  11. The thing that I've wondered about is the person who keeps inching his way to a final sale. You know? As a buyer, I pretty much know what the max is that I want to pay and that's the one bid that I usually make - sometimes a second bid as a snipe if I feel a real desire to get the item... but I see people place 10 or 12 bids - all the while inching their way thru an auction (and not always winning!) Kooky!
  12. Yes, there are other examples. I'm not sure why I noticed just that one in particular. I think it just may "stick out" in conversation with German folks who speak better English than I do! I understand what you mean when you speak of talking in English in your sleep. German friends tell me that they sometimes have English-speaking dreams especially after a lengthy period of contact with English speakers (conferences, seminars, etc). German, for me, comes back quickly while in Germany of course, but, also, the mannerisms - even adopting the German form of English rhythm, etc i.e. that quick "yeah-yeah" that's spoken after a strong agreement. I don't know if German speakers pick up various English language based mannerisms. Oh, one other thing... a German composer friend of mine decided to use English only for his website, because he complained that it takes too many words in German to say the same thing in English!
  13. This is the case too often really! Rod (who's, at this very moment, looking at "die Bahn" train schedules)
  14. The Simpson's, too, is soooooooooo wrong Lisa's voice is the only one that seems to fit, but of course, one is dealing with familiarities. Maybe tjobbe can explain the German use of the English word "since"? I hear (and see) statements like, "I've had this CD since two years." instead of "...for two years." I noticed it twice just in this thread. Is this just habit that is spread among the German/English speakers or is this taught in "die Schulen?" Traveling often in Germany, I first thought that it was a curious mistake made only by a few people in certain geographical areas, but it appears to be used by many German/English speakers.
  15. I use this for Mac. It is still in Beta, but it's worked great for me: JBidWatcher
  16. I have an excerpt from a saxophonist playing in a NY subway, but only an excerpt. Maybe, if you could provide a bit more detail of what you're doing? --- Now playing: Pan Sonic - Etäisyys/Distance
  17. Well, I heard from PJN again. They can't seem to find a record of my shipment, so in the midst of the barnyard shuffle scuffle, they appear to have managed to not ship it, so they are promising Priority to me tomorrow.
  18. yet another reason why some online shops beat the pants off of the Towers, etc... Keith Jarrett: Always Let Me Go - the only Jarrett that I've wanted to own in many a moon - for $4.99 instead of the nearly $30 that the local Tower wants.
  19. Good to hear that you actually have a tracking number!
  20. Just an update for anyone who's ordered the set. Yes, it is true that if you order the set that you should be getting the double-dip comp of PolskaJazz. Also, home office was surprised that I hadn't received mine yet, 'cause it was supposedly sent on the 5th. They mentioned that they've had many requests, so it is possible that you may not see your set as soon as you think. Multiply your expected time by 2 and, probably, then, contact them. Na druga i na zewnatrz! --- Now playing: Pan Sonic - Säteily/Radiation
