I saw a display window in Frankfurt that was nothing but those fancy clear toilet seats. One of the most disturbing ones was filled with tacks! rod

about 25 years gone. He's still lurking about town though. He worked at Tower for some years but I don't know about now. Well, he's gone, but it couldn't have been 25 years. I left in Aug '87 and he was there then and plus there wasn't a Tower Records in Chicago until the 90's. But, I checked the website for Tower in Chicago and it mentions a "Jim" in charge of Jazz and Blues - could be nearly anyone of course, but maybe I need to visit Chi-town again someday to catch up. (If I could only keep from visiting Dusty Groove!!) rod

Yeah, it's all up in the air about their lifespan I think. Better nowadays than before because of all of the improvements. The Epson uses some kind of special ink mix that doesn't smear - which is real nice! You can save a few bucks by buying bulk on the discs - they have to say "inkjet printable" on it when you buy 'em. - and you find that you use more than you ever thought you would, so buying a couple hundred doesn't appear to be an awful lot after you get playing with them rod by the way, take care of that flu. Lots o'fluids! I'm on the second and, hopefully, final day of something like it. It's somewhere between a really bad head cold and flu.

Thanks for the compliment. Direct to disc printing definitely! I've tried a bunch of those other kinds and I've known folks who can't play them in their laptops because of the wobble. First, it was labels - those white thickish things, then I thought I had it licked when i found those real thin - kinda see-thru labels - nope, no matter how centered and good it looked, it still couldn't put up with the speed. (don't discs move at something like 4 or 500 rpms?) rod

Deus, those look great! Jazzbo's right - very European looking! (not sure what that is, but, it has that feel) Love this Epson R800. Lots o' fun creating graphics (though I'm not a graphics person). A friend of mine created an experimental video based on the New York Subway system and wanted to have a "wallpaper" version made on DVD. For graphics, I decided to have both the cover and disc pics blurred (train motion, etc...) He's happy with the results and that's what counts:

Well, I was thinkin that it was much too early, but Carn used to be "Young"ish, I think, in style. No light shed here, but an artcle/review at AAJ: Buddwing Anyway, great tracks! rod

I say take it out and play it! ...but that's just me, of course... OK, so, I'm assuming you've got this because it's a "piece" and having it is more important than playing it, SO... ...what I've always understood is that shrinkwrap is a magnet to heat and shrinkwrapped covers (and, possibly, the LP too depending on your climate) will begin to bow. I don't think that ringwear is really a result of shrinkwrap - unwrapped covers can get ringwear - it's more of a storage problem that produces ringwear. ...but I could be wrong about this... To add to Chuck's comment. I didn't get the Patton until 7 months after it was out and I got #0022. rod --- Now playing: Curtis Amy - If I Were A Bell

Andrew Hill Select now on the Mosaic Website!!!!!

Yeah, I've heard a lot about Shoutcast. It took a while to find a Mac version (which didn't exist for a long time), but after finding it, I found it's a bit difficult for Mac installation - not very Mac friendly. Thanks tho, Rod --- Now playing: Jimmy Smith - C-Jam Blues -

Yup, let's fill up those ears! Right now, only 3 or 4 people can listen at the same time and the only way to allow more listeners is to dumb down the quality of the broadcast or find an audio server website that would host it. So, I'm looking for that possibility... Rod --- Now playing: Baby Huey - Hard Times -

I'm planning on a random round-the-clock broadcast of all 16 Selects after the Hill arrives. At least a two day affair. Info will follow if anybody cares. Rod --- Now playing: Curtis Amy - In Your Own Sweet Way -
Looking for a free or cheap server site that I can use for broadcasting (other than Live365). I'm on a Mac using iTunes, and the iCast servers won't work with iTunes. For a few months, I've been broadcasting from my desktop using a built-in server, but it'd be nice to be able to accept more than 3 or 4 listeners at a time during these "rodcasts." Suggestions welcome! Thanks ahead of time, Rod --- Now playing: Jimmy Lyons - Repertoire Riffin'
